Misc Barrel break-in?

Bought a SCSA Taipan .223. Just read the manual, and it says you need to do a multi-step cleaning, shoot, cleaning, shoot, clean, shoot, etc. until you’ve shot 50 rounds.

Is this really necessary? We don’t have a range near us. We are booked for June 7 at a range 2 hours away. I didn’t know about this breaking in process, and now I fear I’m going to be wasting my 1.5 hours at the range just doing this.

Can anyone please advise?

They used to be cool until things changed in the mid 90s, much like in Canada. Since then it went downhill more and more over the decades. Sounds familiar...
