Misc Barrel break-in?

Bought a SCSA Taipan .223. Just read the manual, and it says you need to do a multi-step cleaning, shoot, cleaning, shoot, clean, shoot, etc. until you’ve shot 50 rounds.

Is this really necessary? We don’t have a range near us. We are booked for June 7 at a range 2 hours away. I didn’t know about this breaking in process, and now I fear I’m going to be wasting my 1.5 hours at the range just doing this.

Can anyone please advise?

In my opinion barrel break in is a myth, just go out and shoot it and have fun. Not to say that they don’t break in at all, tooling and machining marks will slowly “break in”

This all changes if you’re doing PRS with sub-MOA rifles
