Any reason you went with 30-06 as your first gun?

First time out hunting, guy i was out with let me use and old Winchester pump action 30-06. So when I went to buy one. I went with what I knew, now my main hunter is a 6.5creedmoor, I love it never miss, and drops everything so far, 2 deer and a moose last season.

Fantastic cartridge. You can get any game in North America with it. Enormous selection of bullets. Not much recoil and perhaps one of the best things, you can buy ammo at pretty much any store that sells ammo no matter how far out of the city you are.
