Buy recommendations ss211 camping

What do you guys think of carrying a SS211 in my pack as a backup for backpacking camping to keep in the site.
In bear country would have bear spray of course, but an extra layer of protection at camp for predators or weirdos showing up in the night. Exploring my options

Can’t carry it safely while loaded since the only way to have it loaded is to have rounds chambered and fully cocked, so I don’t think it’s ideal for that kinda defensive purpose.

A pump shot gun or a lever action rifle/mares leg with the tube loaded and empty chamber is more suitable IMO

I agree with the pump and having the tube loaded. When we camp I tend to keep the tube loaded in a 1-1-2 config of Bird-Buck-Slug-Slug. The first round should scare the bear off.
