Fix my gun Scope blurry at maximum and minimum magnification.
Picked up a burris fullfield 2-8x. Scope was clear and fine, holding a zero on my old gun. No issues.
I buy a new gun and give the gunsmith the scope with the rings on already to install it before they close. I take the gun to shoot and I see that it's clear on ONLY 4x. Adjusting the focus only makes either the image or reticle blurry.
It also does not hold a zero after 3-5 shots.
Did the gunsmith crush the tube?

Is this the new gen with the red accents? I returned my 3-12x because the reticle just wouldn't stay in focus at pretty much any distance. It's a shame because I really liked their older model, the Fullfield E1.

I just read your post again... which rifle was it on and what is it in now? Also, are the rings the same? Good chance he has to undo the rings to fit the new rifle. Personally, I'd never pay someone else to setup my optics, how could they know what fits me?
. Not blaming you btw, I don't really have an answer for you other than mine had the same kind of issues straight out of the box. Might just be poor QC from the factory, it is a VERY cheap scope after all. As the other poster said, you could remove the rings to see if there's damage (outside of minor cosmetic scrapes on the finish).

Was on a browning BAR mk3 .243. Really was not happy with the accuracy on the Mk3 (around 3moa). So I traded it in for a Benelli R1 .308.
I personally dont like anyone touching my scopes either, but I'm on a hunting trip now and didnt bring my torque screw set or any allen keys.

I'm not your financial advisor but that beauty of a rifle deserves better than a Fullfield. Maybe it was the scope all along, even on the BAR causing poor accuracy. Which rings are holding it?
. Please don't say Amazon mystery metal. I've nothing wrong with budget builds but there's a time and a place for that. You can get away with cheap stuff, I know I have, but when it let's you down don't be too quick to blame the gunsmith.

Problem is the scope was perfectly fine before the gunsmith mounted it. Rings are vortex pro rings. As for the BAR that's another story. I've tried both an Arken and a Primary arms scopes on it and the accuracy would vary wildly and it would spray wildly after 3 or so shots. This was prevalent on two BAR mk3s I owned. I picked up the Burris because it was a lighter scope than my Arken and had a less crowded reticle.

I mean it's possible the gunsmith damaged it due to some sort of accident/mistake. It's also possible the scope kinda just crapped out on him, could've happened to you instead.
. Idk man just send it in to Burris, heard they've got a great warranty. Sucks it happened to you while out on a hunting trip though, that's just awful, hope it doesn't completely ruin it.

Hey, could this be a fixed parallax scope by chance? I know my 3-9 on my hunting rifle is fixed at 100 and is non adjustable. You can shoot it further out but they you either get a blurry reticle or a blurry image, depending on how you adjust it.
I can't explain it losing zero though, that shouldn't really happen unless it's not installed correctly

Problem is it never did that before I handed it to the gunsmith. It was just as clear at minimum and maximum magnification. Now there is zero visibility unless its on 4x

Let me start by saying I've never experienced this issue. It sounds to me like the scope has either been damaged due to improper mounting or perhaps just recoil/field use due to it being a low cost option + potential QC issue.
The one thing about your description that stands out to me is "doesn't hold zero after 3-5 rounds." Does POI return to POA after letting the barrel cool back down? If this is the case that sounds more like your groups opening up due to the barrel heating up. If so, the scope may still be holding zero. In which case you could finish your hunting trip assuming 4x is adequate.

Update. Finally had time to take off the rings, there is a clear mark from where the rear ring pinched the tube. Looks like the gunsmith put the rings too far back over a non-flat part of the tube. There is condensation inside the scope now which pretty much confirms it too.

Take the rings off and look at the tube, you'll know if he did or not.
