Gun and gear reviews Fresh Brigade Makasi Initial Review

Jay's Blades and Bullets gave a more recent initial review of The Brigade Makasi. When he first got it, it would not cycle, but he sent it away for Brigade Arms to fix, and they seemed to have provided him great customer service. He says it is a little less accurate than the Carmel with a little harsher recoil impulse but is lighter than an MCX with similar recoil. He did swap in a different single-stage trigger, so it is nice to have confirmation that works. He says the Strike Industries pistol grip that came with it is nice, and also like the slim, light handguard. He did not the FAL-style stock was heavy, so those wanting a lighter build may want to swap it for a less-hefty stock. Anyways, FYI. Thanks!

Oof, welp might be time to cancel my pre order. Brigade arms might be alright at warranty but here with North Sylva? Its gonna be an absolute shitshow.

I had Tavor 7 breaking on me beyond repair. Spent a year in the warranty service and they couldn't fix it. Finally they sent me back a broken rifle because it was banned at that time already. So there's that, I have a IWI paperweight now. Does that mean all IWI rifles are bad? Probably not, but I got a lemon.

Trigger linkage bar. That bit that engages the sear specifically. Apparently, there's no way to pull it out of the rifle and replace.

this is why I chuckle whenever I hear about these kinds of iwi firearms being "combat proven". Lots of militaries make dumb purchases & acquisitions, and israel is no exception.

That issue is similar to what the x95/tar-21 has with getting debris in from the ejection port & the cut-out for the charging handle and fucking up the trigger link bar as shown here, basically the barrel assembly has to be removed in order to properly clean everything and in turn runs the risk of permanently damaging the barrel and that's on top of needing a special proprietary tool to even do the fix in the first place. Not field-expedient in the slightest.

This is the only issue I have seen noted on forums and reviews so far. Any item will have the occasional lemon, I would suggest holding judgment until we hear of more bad examples.

Well i stand corrected then, i was under the assumption that the makasi was a NS import too. No experience with gravel over here so i can’t comment but it can’t be worse than NS i guess.

On the customer expierence scale NS is definitely the bottom. They have the best cost pricing for dealers and they know it and they know we'll order from em because of it regardless haha.

On a Girsan, I had good warranty experience with North Sylva.
