Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Becoming a gun owner has led me to support Quebec separatism. Get them gone, Nathalie please leave too. You guys can make your own gun free utopia and the rest of us can keep our guns in peace. It’s a win win!

I’m joking. I don’t actually support that, and I deeply feel for Quebec gun owners. You guys are at the forefront of our cause. I think what I really hope is that Poly gets the mental health support that they genuinely need, and the liberals need to wisen up and stop pushing for unpopular ridiculous infringements on people’s property. THATS a win win.

I’ve heard it said that this program is only popular in Montreal. Outside of Montreal in more rural areas it completely drops off in terms of support.

Ironic that a gun ban is most popular in a mob-run city.

Honestly it kinda adds up. I’m a leftist, and most Canadian leftists I meet either don’t care either way about guns or are ironically pro gun (I’m talking real leftists, not liberals or even NDP). All of them from Montreal are just liberal larpers who are indoctrinated to hate guns and believe in bullshit

I used to call myself leftist as well, until I very recently realized I was actually a bit syncretic, and way to pragmatic or jaded to really call myself a genuine leftist anymore. Because I never really was in the first place.

I'd say I'm more center-left, with some left-wing (or even "far-left" depending on who you ask) ideas, and a few of center and center-right ideas.

Depending on who you ask, this either means Revolutionary Marxists or Social Anarchists, it's one or the other. No in between, not both.

I'd hardly count on the former being universally pro-gun/owner post revolution.

Indoctrinated is a bit of a stretch.

I would say social trauma and ptsd play a much larger role for some, and the polite society nonsense we all grew up with for others. Not to mention the, "F U, I got mine!" mentality that's so prevalent in our corporate/capital/consumerism ridden dystopia. Also the lack of general empathy, a thing which studies show to be on the rise. The world is growing into a throughly pessimistic society, it isn't a surprise that fear of gun owners is a part of that. Revenge plays a part or Poly and their supporters too.

This pretty much now means tankies and in turn, right-wing authoritarians with the worship of the likes of aleksandr dugan & ironically enough, donald trump with "MAGA communism". If I were a member in a left-oriented group IRL, I would make sure that these types of people do not worm their way into any position and do my damnedest to push out any that have manged to embed themselves, because they pose a genuine threat to the safety of marginalized & vulnerable members of a group like what's already happened with r*pe allegations in the psl & related groups. Strangely enough, the people that would be victimized by these dark-triad types worship them dearly instead of outright scorning them and reject even hard-evidence that proves otherwise. It's just like trying to pull people out of a cult.

If you want more insight, find and read foundations of geopoltics, the muscovian psyop already succeed by getting trump elected for his first term in coopting & puppeteering the republican party in the united states(which was honestly like shooting fish in a barrel) & various right-wing parties in other parts of the world, so now they're focusing their efforts in infiltrating assorted left-wing orgs & groups, with varying success but fractured ties between these groups serves these psyop conductors better than cohesive communication & organization anyways.

This is true, and a fine (as in very good) analysis. I do think it's within expectation that those Revolutionary Marxists have ran to Dugan though.

kinda random, but here's a fun one: if you haven't before, read Max Stirner before Marx's Das Kapital, or whichever one has the "On German Ideology" chapter. "Stirner's critics" then "The Unique & it's property/Der Enzige"

That entire chapter is practically dedicated to the whole of milk-man's work. Truly a waste of Engel's money that would've been better in Stirner's hands.

I do think this it's within expectation that those Revolutionary Marxists have run to Dugan though.

anyways: A fair bit was started by troll farms near the kremlin, but there's a decent amount that do truly, uncritically think, "usa bad therefore it's opponents are good" and end up supporting nations like russia despite being lgbtq+ themselves and russia outright labeling their entire identity as a "terrorism". Meanwhile these PMC guys are in Mali to protect the mineral extraction operations they got going over there and you'll never guess what they named themselves.
