Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Actually a good thing for gun owners as it makes any kind of buyback a very hard pill to swallow and justify for the government.

Its crazy to me that people still think more than a third of Canadians have a brain or the ability to scrutinize what they hear from the Liberal governments and it's organs in the media.

Hell, theyre already making excuses as to why not only Carney hasnt achieved an economic miracle as he has been claiming for over a year and up until 2 days ago, but theyre also making excuses as to why hes plunged Canada into recession.

Carney could literally burn money on live TV and be photographed with Ghislaine maxwell and they wouldnt care.

They 100% would not bat an eye if he spent billions trying to take our shit while their children rot away in their basements.

It's actually alarming how some Canadians are just screaming "BUT PP!!! ITS HARPERS FAULT!!!" "AT LEAST HES NOT POLIEVRE!!!"

Same with the new BC con leader. Everytime I think we might finally get change, that things are bad enough that people might look around and go "what the fuck did we do to this country", they just double down and scream about conservatives. It's extremely alarming and makes me think we may just be doomed as a nation. Splitting up may be the best way forward.

Agreed on all points

Splitting up IS the only way forward for what youve said. To liberals, boomers specifically you cannot convince them otherwise. They will NOT see the destruction of their choices until its too late, and as a young person I am responding appropriately to the existential threat these boomers and liberals possess to my existence. If I am denied even the most basic fucking job to work, forget being able to have a family working a good job to provide for them, owning a house blah blah blah, then what do i have to lose?

Congratulations boomers and liberals you created the group of people you hate and your only way to deal with it is to double down instead of stepping back and realizing "hold on we need to change this".

Boomers allegedly have higher rates of narcissism, something I have no trouble believing at all from my own experience, and narcissists get angry at you when you call them out. So it tracks that they would get mad at fellow Canadians for reminding them theyve destroyed the country. The anger at separatism is just pure narcissistic rage. They really just want to impose their deluded and destructive worldview on us and for us to thank them.

I understand your frustration, but as a boomer whose never voted Liberal or NDP in my life, don't blame us all. I grew up under 16 years of the Trudeau Sr government and paid 24% interest in 1982 as newlyweds on our car loan, as prime was 22%. Inflation and unemployment were at their highest rate since the depression. It makes me so angry at my fellow generation who remember how hard those years were, yet they continue voting Liberal! I'm terrified for our future generations!

But thats why they need to do it. Guns can be used for hunting, which means you dont need to rely on rhe gov to save you in this recession. Also it can be used for redacted which will explode further when the economy goes bad and people are uh "permanently borrowing" other people's stuff to survive

That's funny you think they need justification lol

Because it's a lot of money for a non-problem to get your voter base to back when they should be looking toward making things more affordable for the average Canadian

To be clear, I don't disagree with you. They SHOULD be looking out for their citizens.

But the core issue is you're approaching this like the government cares about it's people and that they aren't just furthering their own agenda / ideology. The Liberals have proven exactly how far feelings and vibes can be used as justification.

If the government had been held to facts and science (as is evidence by the numerous experts and studies that have proven how 'harmful' firearms ownership is); we'd have way more lax laws and a lot less OIC bullshit.
