Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

So will the government go after the Bishnoi gang, that is allegedly armed 1000 strong, as hard as they did after GSG 15 owners?

I weep for this country's future.

If you think about it, Public Safety has never really been about safety for the public.

it's been about enforcing rules on the public for the safety of the government.

As far as they're concerned, the Bishnoi gang is doing them a favour.

Public safety really does feel like safety from the government. Basically an abusive relationship rather than servitude to the people.

Canada is a sort of nation sort of occupied territory like the whole colony part never fully went away and those corps never left at all.

I am convinced this country is headed towards anarcho-tyranny, where protective laws aren't enforced and law abiding citizens get unfairly targeted and persecuted. Not to the same extent as the UK currently, but we are on that trajectory

I have bad news for you: we’re already in anarcho-tyranny. Like you said, not to the same extent as the UK; but maybe we can call it anarcho-tyranny lite.

Drive by the police with an expired tag on your car and watch yourself need a swat response. They go after soft targets and wouldnt risk going after real criminals.

Abbotsford PD has less than 300 officers. There is no they can handle this.

11+ years of unchecked borders gets you overwhelmed like that.

I have liberal friends who would say this is either fake, nothing to worry about or trust mark carney in his ability to deal with this.

I fucking hope more people get hurt by this at this rate, make it so it cant be ignored anymore how ineffective police and the government are and have people take their own safety into their own hands. Rooftop Korean situations essentially. People going out in mobs to just obliterate known gang members and their families.

The Canadian police are too busy giving tickets to people speeding or not willing to shaken down for license plate renewal than go after literal terrorists. We know what they would do in the event this goes further.

Something I once heard was "The law doesn't protect innocent people. As often innocent people can't even get a good lawyer to have there day in court be successful. It protects the government and criminals." The funny thing is about organized crime and a mob is that they aren't invincible. The percentage of people in a organized crime group is always going to be in a minority. So it wouldn't take much for someone being extorted by one of these groups to stand up to said mob with everyone else who is being extorted by them and then suddenly the mob ain't hot shit. But in the 'developed' world we don't let that happen. Because those organized criminals that are extorting you have rights. More rights then you do to not be extorted by them. Because the law protects criminals. It doesn't protect victims. Victims are a after thought.

It makes more sense when you realize that the biggest extortion racket is run by the government itself

Not sure if it's real or not, but if that's indeed real, then Canada have some big festering wounds that seriously need addressing.

And then we suppose to turn in our legally obtained firearms when there are donkeys out there give zero regards about anything?

Bro said full auto firearms... One of them was a over under shotgun and I am pretty sure the other was a SKS. The one thing that really was concerning in terms of firearms was the handgun under the police vest which might be a pellet/bb gun? Then again that's with me giving the benefit of the doubt. They are still being very fucking bad with firearms safety here and at min should be seeing jail time just for public endangerment alone. But nope. Can't hold actual people threating the public accountable. Gotta go after the literal victimless criminals.
