Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

So i started wondering with guns like the carmel and mk15 coming out. Can more platforms similar release ? I was looking at the iwi arad. I was curios if that could be approved as well

Needs to hit some specific hoops to work. Designed before 2023( I think) and based on something that we already have. I wish we could get a modern SKS in 555 I think that would sell really well here.

so in theory. Any firearm that was made pre 2023 that has an "assault style" design could be legal again

Like I said it's gotta hit some hoops to be approved. The makasi and that other gun are in this magic Goldilocks area. I hope more come. I'd really like to see a good semi PCC hit the market. Give us another option than the Henry homesteader.

Same here. Always wanted to shoot and feel a PCC. Thought about getting the FX9 before the bans. Dream gun of mine to own.

I wanted the sterling r9. Glad I didn't waste money on it. To sit in my safe. Got banned right before I got my pal. I'm getting a makasi tho. Fuck it.
