Fix my gun Mosin M38 bolt sloppy when cocked

It’s my first time taking this rifle out, and when I chambered a round I noticed how loose this was. I was hoping for some guidance as I’m unfamiliar with them.

It’s nice and tight when uncocked.

This seems unsafe to me so I unloaded the rifle and shot my Garand instead before it started raining.

I’d appreciate any help!

A gunsmith is out of the question, as the closest one is 800km south of me.

EDIT: well, thanks for the sassy help I guess lol. Just wanted to confirm it was safe as I’m still learning. My Enfield, and K98 wasn’t sloppy at all so wasn’t sure if this was wrong or unsafe.

Edit 2 thanks for all the actual help and info! It’s very appreciated

It’s a M38 carbine, round receiver. I think it’s an early/mid 50s iirc. It’s packed away now

I have 3 others, two Mosin 91/30s, one hex and one round, one is a 1934ish and other is 1941 I believe. Give or take. I also have another M38, can’t remember if round/hex or what year. They are all packed away

I lost my entire summer last year due to wildfire evacuations so I haven’t been able to take them out yet, until now.

I love the Mosins (and all WW2 rifles). Been collecting, now I want to learn all about them and shoot them!

That cool, I love russian guns too. I was gonna get a SVT-40 rifle but shocker they put it on the prohibited list like a year or two ago. I got a sks and russian captured Kar98 I don't shoot much but they are fun when I do

I’ve got a Yugo captured kar98, it’s one of my favourites to shoot.

I’ve got quite a collection, too many to list, but the bans definitely pissed me off.. I wanted a genuine ww2 M1 Carbine… guess that ain’t happening.

Yeah, a lot of guns they put on there were old, my buddy was looking into getting a M1 and was also upset when that got put on the list. Maybe some time in the future the government might lift the ban on some of the more historical guns
