Gun and gear reviews Ruger 10/22 archangel nomad

I had one of these years ago and like a fool sold it. I stumbled upon one a few weeks ago and jumped on picking it up. They are neat I’ll give them that. Bit heavy a lot of work for assembly but overall pretty cool. Fit and finish I’d give 8/10 there’s good sized gaps where the case halves fit together and the iron sights are awful. I decided to through a red dot on but the sights obstruct the view so they had to go. I modeled some filler parts and here we are. Next up I might toss my 10” barrel back on pin the folding stock and find a 36c forend the mag sleeves are printed aswell as the barrel shroud as the one it came with was almost impossible to get on/off

Thanks! Yeah my experience with any 10/22 is it requires minimal cleaning and most of it can be done assembled any 10/22 I have will run dirty and any ammo you put through it.

My 10/22 is in an ATI AR22 plasti-chassis that's a pain to disassemble but 1) I figured out how much NOT to disassemble and still clean thoroughly, and 2) usually just swab everything out after use and it'll go 1500 rounds until the ejectors start to clog up.

What are your tips for what NOT to disassemble and still clean thoroughly?

Well it's not by the book thorough but I lock the bolt open and spray a bunch of G96 Gun Treatment up and down the bore and draw a snake through it chamber to muzzle a couple of times. Then a few passes with clean, G96 soaked patches til they are grey, not black. A pass with a G96 soaked bore mop. Then swab out everything you can reach with big and small Qtip type swabs and blue shop towels. Bolt face, extractors, chamber face, inside the mag well. Whatever you can get black off of. Finally wipe off the tops and followers of your mags with a G96 soaked shop cloth. Rewipe everything with dry shop towels to get any excess ooze. Save solvents til you go complete tear down.

thank you! Also, did you also have an issue with the buffer tube tabs not aligning properly with the chasis?
