Gun and gear reviews Walked to the middle of nowhere to find crow land

I drove 2.5 houses from Toronto and randomly chose this spot

Double checked with the municipality and atlas

But ngl it was annoying af to get here

I know we are supposed to gatekeep these places but tbh, nothing much to gate keep here

Raven land is much better, generally speaking.

Great way to get outside during Corvid 19.

True, Raven land is much better, but you have to drive like 6 houses from Toronto to get there. 2.5 houses to crow land sounds much more doable.

I remember doing this when i first got my gun license. Id run thru a box of shells and get paranoid and peel out.

The existance of Gooderham implies the existance of Worstham and maybe even Okayham.

Interestingly enough, named after the distillery in Toronto... At least that's what I was told while living in Irondale.

Well how did Irondale get named, was there like, aluminum around?

I live in this area. Long time ago there was many metallic mines in the area. It became slang/general term for the area that eventually stuck

Wasn't there an iron mine just by Furnace Falls (on the north side of the 503)?

I believe so and apparently uranium but I'm assuming in small amounts or it would have turned into a huge operation

I mean I don't know there's at least a few houses along that road

i went north of mordolphin last time i went to crown land. it was a dense ass forest and the best spot i could find was no more than 25 metres from the depression i was shooting down into as a berm

Is it anything like pigeon land?

3

u/PomegranateAncient25 May 19 '26

Was it the black feathers that tipped you off that you arrived?

3

u/yoyofagbro May 19 '26

I mean if your willing to drive you can find crown land anywhere in Canada the reason I don't go too often is I don't wanna get lost and end up in the blair witch project but all joking aside if anyone has any tips to not get lost when deep into crown land that would help

Use a compass. Set a bearing at a 90° angle from the road and stick to it it. That will ensure you walk in a straight line through the bush as long as you check it regularly (put up the compass, identify a tree or bush it's pointing to, walk there, recheck compass and repeat). When you're ready to go back, simply reverse your compass bearing 180° and do the same.

No, Crowland is in Welland, not Toronto.

May not be the middle of nowhere, but you can see it from there. Lots of moose probably..

Just join a shooting club lol. You'll spend more in gas than the cost of a yearly membership at a range

Which is why you make a camping weekend out of it, that's what I do anyway lol

Crownland plinking is 10x more fun than a range

Years long wait list?? Wow I sure I'm glad I don't live in the city.
