Misc Torturous Tuesday

It’s wild to think that two years ago around this time I finished building a 22LR upper for my Raven.

‘Only’ managed to get around 3,000rds through it before it was deemed to “assault rifley” for use.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t find it a little bit like torture having this thing locked away never to be used again for god knows how long.

I didn't build a 22lr crypto that didn't cost me a fortune and take months to source/import all the parts I didn't get, only for it to get banned before I could get it tuned to run properly.

Hypothetically it would have had a fully functional last round hold open, but it would have been a challenge getting magazines that worked right.

It pisses me off that most of the research I did came from UK shooters and forums, because they can only have 22. Rimfire ar15s in the UK. As much as it would be a kick in the balls still, I would have been somewhat OK if our government made that compermise.

I've seen people convert a x95 to 22lr, and im sure our industry would quickly find ways to make systems for other guns. Hell some stuff would work really well or better if your willing to make the conversion perment, which would probably be mandatory under this kind of compermise.

Man, seeing some of the stuff those UK guys can have makes me jealous. Specially the fact you’re damn near considered rude if you don’t have a “moderator” on your rifles. The fact they can have (neutered) ARs AND suppressors mean while we can’t even have the Blazers 47 is wild.

I technically had a last round hold open, but it was cheese. The magazines I was running had a follower that would stick up far enough for the bolt to hang up on it once that last round was fired. It wasn’t exactly perfect and I hand to physically pull the magazine out since they wouldn’t drop free at that point… but sometimes ‘done’ is better than ‘perfect.’

Ya many if the magazines will hold it open when its empty but not once the magazine is removed, that took a few parts and a little work.

Well damn. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous of your theoretical set up. If the OIC didn’t happen I’m sure I could have figured something out to get the magazines working with the BHO.

Really its just a modified LRBHO catch and stronger magazine springs for gen 2 CMMG mags. I guy in England is making magazines for it now that look like PMAGs and work better than anything else.
