Buy recommendations AK pistol mags

I'm eying up the new Ruger American Scout in 7.62 but I'm not a fan of limiting myself to 5 rounds with pinned AK mags. I did some looking online and couldn't find what I was looking for so I figured I'd come ask here. Do AK pistol mags with 10 round capacity exist like the LAR-15 mags? If not I was considering going with the 5.56 for LAR-15 mags or 308 for AICS.

AR pattern only. No AK mags, as the Draco and its similar AK pistols are prohibs up here

That's unfortunate. Looks like I'll be going after the 308 or 5.56 then.

Swap the magwell for an ar pattern and use xcr pistol magazines.

I'll run some numbers and see if it's more economical to swap the magwell and shoot surplus or reload for 308

Do you know anyone with a 3d printer? Lots of people have printed magwells for Ruger Americans and the files are commonly available.

Its possible, just be careful which magazines you use.

I think 6mmARC magazines are compatible with 7 62x39, but mdt has many of their magazines listed as not compatible with ruger american rifles for some reason. I haven't asked them specifically what the issue would be, and they may be usable with some altering, but I just dont know for sure.

Iirc, you can swap out the magwell with the ar one and just run the xcr 10 round mags. From what I’ve seen, they fit.

No, as far as I know, LAR/Crossmags only come in AR pattern, in 556, 308, and 762x39

They don’t make a 762x39 pistol mag that is ak patterend

I thought they took mini 30 mags? Still 5 rounds..

10 round AICS are pretty common from what I see

I swapped my Ruger 5.56 to aics mags.

I actually swapped the whole chassis over to an mdt one.

I'm planning to keep the standard stock. Not really planning on doing any real precision work with it. Just a good farm gun, and I prefer keeping mags handy opposed to boxes of shells which is why I like 10 capacity magazines.

Me too! With aics mags I can run 12 rounds.
