How often does this happen ?

Shot a few slugs today and a wad ended up lodging itself into the target. I hadn’t seen anything like it before so I was thought it was pretty cool haha. I was wondering if it’s a common occurrence at shorter ranges ?

I've seen it more often with sub gauge reloads,mine to be exact. Destroyed a few grouse because the wad sticks and basically acts as a slug with the shot and there is basically no meat left 🤣
