Buy recommendations Retailers that still have target pistols?

I am in the market for a target pistol, especially a Ruger Mark IV.
Anyone got any leads on retailers that still have those?
Or does anyone know how's the import process with IRG?

Reach out to IRunGuns. If you have you exemption letter, import is easy.

I was looking into that too. Do you have an exemption or an atc? Can you tell me how much extra can I expect to pay over the base price on irg?

I don't think you're in a position to complain about a little bit extra in import fees. But it's probably around 100 bucks extra.

We have a $100 USD permit application fee. The import fee of $30 USD and the price of the gun, and then Canada Post shipping and 5% GST when it arrives in Canada.

About an extra 275-300$ with import fees and taxes etc (that’s how much it was to export a shotgun to a friend of mine in the USA)

100/ firearm if you buy third party and import through them, or 25$ if you buy directly from them. + shipping + 5% tax

I checked with them, there is a $100 fee for handgun import permit processing aswell even if you order thru them

Oh yeah that too, sorry forgot about that.

You can also look on auction places if you’re looking for handguns. Icollector I saw a few.

Ellwood Epps also has some, but you need to make an account, send them RPAL and exemption letter to see them

hehe, then you don't want to know the price of a really nice pistol like a Walther GSP

$1950? WTF?

OP asked a question. I just answered the question. I have no control over the answer.

Also I'm pretty much abandoning any plans of taking up bullseye at these prices. If I'm paying $2k I'd rather grab a 300prc and shoot things I can't see.

Yeah, I wasn't questioning your reply but that pricing is insane. Such is the current state unfortunately.

All guns stores that previously sold pistols, still have them locked away out of sight. I’ve called around looking for a specific one I’ve been after and they are more than willing to look into their inventory and give you a price. Support your local gun shops!

Yes, I found one locally, decided to go with it even tho it was $400 above msrp better than irg as I still get warranty in canada with it.

That’s unfortunate to hear, the local shop I stopped at gave me a -$300 off the blue book price

Glad you found one locally!

Well I was naive & requested an exemptipn for mk IV, not knowing they are sold out everywhere. I found mk III & IIs way cheaper. The only mk IV I found was the 22/45 lite, although it is quite light, it will get me started for training. I plan on getting a walther gsp in future.

I’m working with a smith and Wesson model 422 atm, looking for a double action revolver

1

u/MBGLK May 13 '26

Where did you find the 22/45 please?

1

u/Desperate_Finance_91 May 13 '26

At my lgs, it was the last one they had.

u/MBGLK May 13 '26

Was your exemption for a Mark 4. Or Mark 4 22/45 specifically?

2

u/Desperate_Finance_91 May 13 '26

MK IV but the seller told me it doesnt matter 22/45 is a sub-model, same like the target, standard or competiton I requested for 22/45 but they just wrote Mark IV on the exemption letter
