Application / Regulation advice Two pieces of ID
Well I'm kinda stuck here. I'm doing my application and I can't seem to figure out the 2 pieces of government identification. I have my driver's license but that's kind of it. I don't have my birth certificate and am having a hard time figuring out how to have a guarantor to get that. No passport either. Don't think they take health cards 😂. To my knowledge they won't take my outdoors card because it has an initial instead of the whole name. Any advice to help out while I sort out my birth certificate?

Working on the birth certificate but tbf it comes up so infrequently that I generally forget about it.

You neeed your birth certificate before a firearm lol. Make that a priority.

Well I had it before but it was lost like 10 years ago in a fire. It really doesn't come up needing it very often

Your health card is government ID, why wouldn't it work?

I just assumed it wouldn't because it's never accepted as ID, didn't realize it's acceptable for this

Health card actually does work! It’s what I used and I got my PAL rather quickly too

That's an Ontario regulation, but HC will work for PAL application perhaps because its federal

Yes, I did too. Here is a better explanation:
Legal Standing: Under the Health Cards and Numbers Control Act, 1991, non-healthcare entities cannot demand your health card, but you may voluntarily offer it.
Where it is Refused: Institutions such as banks, credit unions, and some government services (e.g., DriveTest) will generally refuse it, as they cannot collect or record the number.
So I guess the RCMP lets them be used

I used my health card and DL. My passport was expired and BC was lost

SIN? I think some provincial health cards can be used. Eg Ontario's health card is real Id.

You can get your birth certificate in 2 days. That’s your best route since you need it anyways.

Getting a new birth certificate isn’t that hard. I had to order one a couple years ago and it was an online form and few bucks. Showed up a week or two later in the mail. It’s one of those things that you never need until you do. You should get that taken care of first.

Get a health services card never have them combined it’s the easiest way to have two ID
