Buy recommendations Thinking of getting a smith and wesson 1854 in 30-30, anyone got experience with the recent production ones?

I have one. Its great. Fit and finish is on par with my marlin.

I have a 357 Mag one and it's my favorite gun. I just put a space cowboy kit on it last week too.

We have both a marlin sbl and one of these on the shelf right now. Marlin is a tad nicer but theres nothing wrong with the smith and wessons either (and theyre cheaper than an sbl)

Have one in 44 mag it's awesome probably put a good 200 Rds down the pipe with no issues. Though it doesn't seem to love running dirty, I haven't cleaned mine yet cuz I'm lazy but the lever definitely started to gum up at the end of my last range trip.

Better materials, reliable and cheaper you can probably get a Winchester 94 on gunpost for 800 bucks. I'm not saying the smith and Wesson is bad, but at that price you could get something used and have a lot of money saved for rounds or either an optic if it allows

Winchesters have a Top Eject , it’s harder to put a Scope on the rifle. Marlin’s are side eject , the Scope mounts easier.
