22lr scope recommendations

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to mount a scope on my Savage B22G bolt-action .22 LR. It’ll be a dual-purpose rifle for plinking and small game hunting (grouse and rabbits). I’d prefer a scope with a 50-yard parallax or an adjustable parallax.

I’ve looked at the Athlon Neos scopes, but they seem a bit heavy. The Leupold VX-Freedom 2–7x33 is a little on the expensive side for me. I might consider a Vortex Crossfire HD as well.

I’m open to suggestions!

Friends don’t let friends buy Vortex, overpriced for what you’re getting

Dante has their Bushnell’ on sale and a 3-9x40mm Prime would be a good choice

That Bushnell is not that good and pretty cheaply built, the triumph or any Vortex for that matter will be miles better

Agreed. They're adequate scopes, but you can do a lot better for your buck. Especially on the low end. Honestly, the crossfire series scopes compare pretty poorly against random Chinese amazon scopes that are about 1/3rd the price, or less. Sure, you don't get the same sort of warranty, but you can buy a whole new replacement scope if you need, and still have money left over. And the few Chinese optics that I have are actually optically quite a bit better looking than the low end Vortex pieces.

And high end scopes aren't even part of the discussion here, so they're irrelevant. OP is looking for a low-to-mid-priced rimfire scope. All I can really add is to look at the features you want. For me, for a rimfire, that adds up to: 1. relatively compact and lightweight. No 30 or 34mm tubes and 56mm objectives, thanks. 2. Adjustable objective. Preferably side adjust. 3. multiple aim point reticle. Mildots are nice. My favourite was a Nikon 4.5-14x40mm mildot, with side AO. Sadly, they're discontinued. Maybe on the used market. But even when they were still made, this was a fairly tough combination to find

I have a CVLife 3 -9 has parallax adjustment and works great on my 10/22. Amazon purchase. Ron Spomer tested one zero issues

Everything of quality in Canada is absurdly overpriced. At least with Vortex you’re getting the lifetime warranty, no questions asked. Worth the price IMO.

Having to bring up the warranty with Vortex is a reason to not buy Vortex, if everyone knows about the warranty it would infer they break often correct? I’d rather have dependability and glass clarity as the oft mentioned perks of a scope not the warranty, Bushnell’ IronClad is the same and you get a better scope in the bargain.

That’s a ridiculous argument. Vortex is well known for their quality, especially on their higher-end optics. By your logic, any manufacturer that offers a lifetime warranty must break often? You just told me that Bushnell has a comparable warranty, so wouldn’t that also apply to them?

I just sold all my Snap-On tools because they have life time warranty... I feel like the only things without lifetime warranty are things so cheap that it's easier and cheaper to replace than to warranty

Vortex Fanboys of which you would be one, are oft to preach of their Warranty as if it’s Jesus Christ on Roller Skates coming in to save the optics world, when it’s relatively common. I’m sure they make some decent rifle scopes but for their Razor line on the Observation side they’re enormously overpriced for what they deliver. With eye watering price tags on their spotting scopes and binoculars they consistently fail to compete with the Big Four Kowa, Leica,Zeiss and Swarovski. If all I can expect to get from Vortex for my dollars in is some bro squawking at me about the warranty, I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

The RG3 6-36 is among the most popular optics for PRS and long range shooting. I think you're just a hater.

Great price on that Bushnell prime for sure. But I can’t seem to find much information about the parallax. I’m assuming it’s set at 100 yds?

I have a cheap Simmons 3-9x40 on the rifle right now and it drives me crazy. The reticle moving at closer ranges is very tiring on the eye.

Everything is overpriced in Canada, but when it comes to firearms and optics we are really getting f’d.

I currently have that same Simmons on my tm22 and at first I thought it was okay for the money but after about a thousand rounds I’m over it lol. Eyebox is tiny lol and it’s not super clear even at 100y.

I’ve one and I can say it’s not overly noticeable to me. Better quality glass helps noticeably

Maybe the product is so reliable the cost of warranty claims is negligible to their bottom line so why not offer it to give some added value to the customer?

Telling people not to buy vortex then reccomending Bushnell in the same comment is absolutely diabolical and just the laugh I needed this Monday morning lol
