Shooting Have you ever had a bear incident?
Honest question: have you ever had to fend off an aggressive bear in Canada? (hunting or otherwise) What happened, and what worked for your response?

I was living in a staff house in whistler, and one day the guy who left last only closed the screen door. So we’re all at work and get a call from the neighbours that there’s a bear in the house and it’s trashing everything! So I decide to head back home to deal with it. When I get there I see there’s trash everywhere outside. So I slowly go inside, and thankfully the bear is gone (I learned later the neighbours chased it off with a leaf blower). The kitchen is destroyed, trash everywhere, it’s like a bomb went off. So I spend the next few hours cleaning and fixing the house. Later I’m sitting on the porch relaxing after dealing with all that, and behind me I hear a snort. I bolt upright and there’s a black bear standing 3 feet from me! Just a chair between us, and no chance to get to the door! He gives me a testing lunge, but I got big and scared him off just long enough to get to the door! He then spent the next 30 minutes slamming on the door to try and get at the food! It’s the most scared I’ve ever been. Eventually the bear realized it wasn’t going to get anything and left.
