Shooting Have you ever had a bear incident?

Post image

Honest question: have you ever had to fend off an aggressive bear in Canada? (hunting or otherwise) What happened, and what worked for your response?

Not me, but my 85 (at the time) year old grandfather dinged a charging yearling black bear between the eyes with 30-30 at about 3-5 meters out and it died at his feet. Grandpa fell back onto his ass and lost his glasses, he couldn’t find them, so he notched his tag, stuck it in the bears mouth and stumbled his way a few km back to camp.
