Shooting Have you ever had a bear incident?

Honest question: have you ever had to fend off an aggressive bear in Canada? (hunting or otherwise) What happened,​ and what worked for your response? ​​

Had some close encounters with black bears in Petawawa but nothing i would categorize as aggressive, just curious and a bit of a nuisance.

They would rip open our rucks and steal our IMPs but would leave if set off bear bangers or made enough noise. We had to fire off some blanks a couple times when we didn't have the bangers readily available.

The trench beside me had a cub fall into it and on to one of the troops inside. He gently gave it a boost out and it carried on.

Bears were never an issue in wainwright. The fucking moose, elk and deer on the other hand was a different story, the deer weren’t dangerous dismounted but in blue fleet they were fucking deadly

Civilian pattern vehicles, more often then not they were navy blue, hence the name. Basically they weren’t army trucks, F-350s, econoline vans shit like that.

Reminds me of the full tactical field ex where we were all told over the radio to stop where we were and wait for the bear lumbering down the road to leave
