Shooting Have you ever had a bear incident?
Honest question: have you ever had to fend off an aggressive bear in Canada? (hunting or otherwise) What happened, and what worked for your response?

I've have several very close on foot encounters with gbears over the years, and it always ended either by calmly moving out of their way, or by them walking/running away.
My dad has had similar experiences with them. He did have one scary encounter on a ridgeline when a cub ran past him and then mom came after. Luckily the cub veered downs lope so after a moment of consideration, mom headed that way too.
I think if you are maintaining awareness and presenting appropriate body language you would have to be very unlucky to be attacked, even when encountering gbears at close range.
Would recommend accessibly carrying bear spray as a precaution.
