Buy recommendations Huge fan of calibre 30-06 i need rifle suggestions

I’m looking for best rifle for me at indoor range and for hunting deer. I’m thinking about BAR 1970-90 models. Do you have any suggestions for me.

Budget is $800

Husqvarna 1640 is a great durable budget option. It’s made by a swedish chainsaw company but their rifles are built like tanks. They do kick quite a bit though so just be wary of that

I’ve small build body, do you think I can handle the kick? Ive shot 12 ga and it was so much kick for me

30-06 in general does kick a bit. However usually 30-06 won’t kick more than a 12 gauge. It feels kinda like a firm push into you compared to a 12 gauge’s shove

I'm small and i have 1640 in 30-06, the kick is sharper than 12ga but less push. Good technique and posture really helps with recoil. You can always add a pad or wear a pad. Really nice rifle for the price.

The kick depends on how heavy the rifle is. Heavier rifles will kick less. Also, lighter bullets and/or lower velocities will kick less. If you stay away from super lightweight hunting rifles, you should be okay. The below website has a recoil calculator so you get an idea how much a given firearm will kick based on the platform weight and ammo load you're planning to shoot. It also has a graph to show you where you're gun's recoil stacks up against other calibers.

12G shotguns are somewhere in the 30+ Ft-lb range.

It’s actually a gun company that also makes chainsaws. Small difference lol but they made guns first

Find a Parker hale used, phenomenal rifles for the price and you’ll pick one up on gunpost for like $500.

I’d pick a Husqvarna first but yeah great values around 500$ each

Parker hale 1200 is what you’re looking for. Phenomenal rifles, them and weatherby were once the top dogs in the game

They also aren't great hunting guns

Intersurplus has 3006 bars. Around 800 might be a bit more with shipping and tax and such,  but I feel it's the best route

I got a Husqvarna Mauser in 30-06 from intersurplus. It’s now 75 years old but it’s in excellent condition. Paid 500$ all in with tax and shipping.

Bolt actions are generally more accurate than a BAR. If you're recoil shy may wanna consider a different caliber. Why are you a 30-06 fan?

I like the history of it from ww1-2, same as 30-30. I was in between 30-30 but their rifle is expensive lol maybe i can save more to get one. I see that low recoil

Get an m1917 rifle then if you like the history. Its the Rolls Royce of bolt action rifles. Little on the heavy side so it tames the recoil. Also comes in .303 British as the p14 with less recoil again. 30-30 has no military use, or very limited.

I myself have a A.B STIGA in .30-06 and it’s built off I believe a Mauser 96 action, is smooth as a baby bottom and shoots like a tack I only spent like 500$ on the rifle aswell

People will hate but I got a savage axis 30-06 and I love it, I throw a muzzle brake on when my wife shoots and my little Asian wife says there’s no kick so if you do experience some kick muzzle brake is always an option if you get a rifle with a threaded barrel, a fully decked out brand new savage axis pro11 threaded barrel and fluted barrel with a cheap scope will run you 800 at a big box store
