News / Politics / Activism I found this pretty comical

Post image

I know California has nothing to do with us, but considering we both suffer from some pretty silly gun laws I figured I’d share for the topic of discussion. I recently found out California does not allow detachable mags for ar15’s, anything considered “tacticool” must have to remove the action in order to reload 🤣🤣

If anyone wants a good laugh, look up some of their solutions.

So far my favourite is basically a side loading AR. Instead of the magazine coming off, you essentially use a stripper clip through the ejection port the same way you’d load an SKS.

A featureless AR might be better than a lot of what we have today.

As ashamed as I am to admit it… I kind of agree. I’d take a ‘side loading’ AR over no AR any day of the year.

Hell I’d even take one of those stupid bullet buttons over having nothing.

No pistol grip or adjustable stock and you can have detachable mags, or just buy an M1A or Mini-14 lol.

3

u/AdeptArt May 04 '26

Not even side loading, you can get a featureless AR that takes detachable mags.

2

u/MasterScore8739 May 04 '26

At that point though you may as well just pick up an M14 variant. The whole idea behind owning the AR is to have an AR.

Say what you want about Canadian gun laws, but at least we don't have that fixed magazine bs. That shit is diabolical.

12

u/jaredw6697 May 04 '26

The m1 garand is only allowed more then 5 rounds due to being an internal mag

6

u/LordRaizer May 04 '26

Yeah but you don't have to disassemble the M1 Garand to insert another enbloc clip

3

u/Red_Shrinp556 May 04 '26

Nobody uses fixed mag solutions in California. Just remove the adjustable stock and pistol grip and you can have detachable mags.

6

u/EliteDuck May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

Kind of. It's permitted due to being a WWII-era design, and it's not really possible to pin the enblocs due to the design of the firearm.

3

u/AndreiHoo May 04 '26

Wrong, 5rd enbloc clip does exist. pic

Yet.... I'm still not convinced that won't eventually be announced. They've been talking about it for years. I just hope my Mk15 gets here before that!

2

u/guestpassonly May 04 '26

Dont give em any ideas.

I mean, anything that is mag fed was one of the basis for the semi-auto ban we have now

2

u/Barbarian_818 May 04 '26

That was the intent.

5

u/zporb May 04 '26

I'd much rather own a gimped AR than not

1

u/Current-Speed4096 May 05 '26

you won't need one cause all the fun semi autos are banned.

53

u/Relative_Context_122 May 04 '26

Lord Gary, protect us from these evil features.

5

u/Reasonable_Hall2346 May 04 '26

Chitter be thy will.

30

u/goshathegreat May 04 '26

Meanwhile we literally have 3 semi autos available….

these days literally is used for emphasis

15

u/VanillaHighlights May 04 '26

Well that's figuratively retarded.

6

u/HanzG May 04 '26

I know, but it shouldn't. Literally means literal. Use 'fucking' if emphasis is needed.

2

u/mischling2543 May 04 '26

Which for some reason are like 75% Turkish

1

u/mangobludden May 06 '26

we have like 7.2

11

u/dgod40 May 04 '26

As usual there are workarounds. The "requires dismantling the action to remove" is as usual some nonsense technical stuff that has somewhat been circumvented. The action just has to be cracked as minimal as possible.

why does buddy have a fetal doppler strapped to his AR lol

2

u/dgod40 May 04 '26

Some people like to larp in the weirdest ways...who am I to judge! 🤣

19

u/pooshlinger May 04 '26

I often think about how “lucky” we are to have been spared foregrips

I never understood how the Republicans and their supreme court let this fly. All of the bs gun restrictions in the US could be struck down for being against the 2A in a day. Just shows how even in the US politicians aren't on our side.

4

u/guestpassonly May 04 '26

yeah its funny how they could have EVERYTHING they want in terms of gun laws RIGHT NOW...

yet are focused on all the wrong things right now

13

u/VanillaHighlights May 04 '26

At least we can own our tiny little wrist-breaker 12 guages.

The one thing we have over most Americans.

15

u/HappyCan7250 May 04 '26

And shipping guns directly to your door is pretty sweet too honestly. That is one of the few things I love about our laws.

7

u/EliteDuck May 04 '26 edited May 08 '26

Getting pre-authorized in 5 year increments (tied to license renewal) instead of getting a background check and waiting period for every purchase is nice as well.

3

u/HappyCan7250 May 04 '26

That's actually a valid point, Canada will basically give a license to any and all law abiding citizens (not even citizens, even student visa holders can get them). In Canada, even felons can get a firearms license if enough time has passed, I've heard of several cases, whereas in the US, a single felony is a blanket lifetime ban I believe. I don't necessarily think someone who may have screwed up in their 20s once, should never be able to experience hunting at the age of 35 or 40, for example, or be denied means of protection if out deep in the bush.

There are aspects of the Canadian system that I prefer, but many aspects of the US system as well. In a perfect world, we would have a hybrid blend of our laws and US laws.

u/guestpassonly May 04 '26

who are pretty damn useless in terms of functionality...

1

u/VanillaHighlights May 04 '26

Sure, but they're fun as fuck.

Who gives a shit if they're functional? Half of us shoot at paper down a range anyways.

1

u/guestpassonly May 05 '26

I get that not every gun has to have a serious purpose

And you're right, i do way more target shooting than actual hunting.

But lil wrist-breakers seem more of a liability than anything

4

u/FedInformant May 04 '26

Their pistol grips with paddles is an absolute joke.

5

u/NeruLight May 04 '26

Are the evil features in the room with us now

3

u/IntelligentGrade7316 May 05 '26

Shoulder thing that goes up shakes it's head.

11

u/Daedalus-N7 May 04 '26

The difference between us and California is practically no gun owner in California follows any of these laws

The fin that's made out of kydex that wraps around the pistol grip and is removable with two screws? You honestly think any of them keep it on? Obviously what you see on YouTube videos is following laws. they're not going to post shit to incriminate themselves

3

u/challengergaren May 04 '26

You should see how you have to reload an AK or an MP5 there, it's comical how goofy it is.

3

u/New-Replacement-2352 May 04 '26

Those evil, evil flash hiders 🫣

3

u/IPSC_Canuck May 04 '26

I absolutely love how pretty much immediately after the laws have changed someone has a workaround.

3

u/kookiemaster May 04 '26

I am not surprised. Worked briefly in regulatory stuff in another context (trade) and there were literally lawyers making a living finding workaround and loopholes in any new regulation the government came up with. It was an eternal cycle of changing regulation, products being developed to go around them, then new regulation.

3

u/probsty13 May 04 '26

Wtf lol. Evil features

If you're taking AI answers as gospel, you might want to reconsider your life choices.

Do the research yourself. Look at the laws which are easily accessible.

To be fair, would you want to keep your laws the way they are now, or substitute them for Californias, cause I think I know what I would choose.

2

u/TarkovSundays May 04 '26

Yeah I saw a video of some guy loading his AR and was like what the crud is going here.😂 weird ass mags. Absolutely insane that this is going on in the states. My hope is dwindling for us.
