Shitpost / Memes A Bad Area To Live For Sport Shooters

Post image

The number of total shooting ranges in this area of the map is 7. Go a little bit out of the way to the Aurora region and you get Target Sports Canada, Aurora Gun Club, Sharon Gun Club and a little further then that Uxbridge Clays. So in total 11 places. Now let me give you a little break down of the 6 clubs in this area. Starting with the furthest North. Blueridge Sportsmans Club Inc. 25, 50 and 100 yard lanes. Also has trap. Pretty standard outdoor range. Membership? They are shockingly accepting new members if the website is to be believed. Reasonable Fees as well. It does not get much better from here. Next up on the list is the Barrie Gun Club. $1250 for your first year and then you are paying $570 a year afterwards. Does have a range that goes out to 150 metres though. By there own admittance it can take up to 6-10 month wait list. I have heard stories of people waiting years though. Next would be the Alliston & District Sportsmen's Club . Good luck joining this club. You need a sponsor and on top of that the wait lists from what I have heard can be very very long. Where talking years. Also membership selection is… Odd to say the least. Then you have the Toronto International Rifle and Pistol Club (yes they also do shotguns.) This range seems great… Until you realize how limited you are in what you can Shoot. Yep. Only 33 calibers approved. Vast majority of them being handgun calibers. So how do you become a member of this fine club? Welp just so you know there is a 6 month wait list. Not bad but let’s see the costs. $1,491.60 in total to become a member… Afterwards though you only got to pay $700.60 a year… But hey atleast you got a club that has ‘olympic grade facilities.’ But maybe you just want to shoot shotgun? You will still have to pay the same initation fees but hey atleast you are only paying $395 a year pre tax for membership renewals...Dufferin Northern-Peel Anglers and Hunters Association . Becoming a member here is a challenge let’s say but not impossible. Be prepared to wait a while though to join this club. Wait list is long. Reasonable membership fees though. Islington Sportsmen's Club… They don’t even have a website listed on Google Maps. But don’t worry you can find there website online https://islingtonsportsmensclub.com/ … Not much to say though. From online forums I could gather you need a sponsor to get in and the wait list is measured in years not months. 4-5 years to be precise. So those are the clubs inside the drawn line. Oh I forgot the gun club in Collingwood but that club be kind of strange lowkey ngl… And I am to lazy to talk about it. Not much info on membership joining though like if there is a wait list or anything like that. https://collingwoodrodandgunclub.com/. So that’s the situation for a lot of sport shooters in the region. Virtually no general use crown land to shoot on so unless you have private property you can shoot on you are in a pretty poor situation. Yes outside of this line there is Target Sports Canada and the other clubs mentioned above but the added distance to people living in most of the area in the line is a lot. Using Barrie for instance as a marker it would take someone a 54 minute long drive on the highway just to get to Target Sports Canada. If you live in Collingwood that becomes a 1 hour and 42 minute long drive. Now some may say “Well why don’t people in this area just buy there own land to shoot on?” Well apart from that being a very boomer suggestion that’s just not realistic for most people. That’s 100,000s to buy enough land in a area to legally shoot on. Sure in cases like Barrie you do have the option to go to the Orillia gun club which is only a little over a 30 minute drive to get there. However that also requires sponsorship from a existing member. This post was made to raise awareness about the situation going on in this region and quite frankly the surrounding regions. This area has a high population as well. Barrie alone has a population of nearly 150,000. The New Tech region has close to 50,000 people. In other words there are easily 100,000s of people living in this region. If let’s say the population was 300,000 and if of that 200,000 were 18+ and with 5% of the population of Ontario having a PAL then there could easily be 10,000+ Pal holders in this area. I hope you learned something from my ramblings today.

Bros never lived in toronto. Where most people have their guns and no where to shoot it but at bad guys

u/CurlyWurly61 May 01 '26

Lol I bought my rifle from a guy in Toronto. It was a Tikka T3x in .308 and he had like 1 indoor range at 25 or 50 yards that he would shoot it 😂

Told me after 5 boxes it was absolutely ridiculous so he ended up selling it for a huge discount

Just went back to the convos of the seller and he mentioned he bought a Cadex to shoot PRS matches at Silverdale gun club

8

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

Oh I know about Toronto. However everyone knows about Toronto.

3

u/justinoff May 01 '26

Bros wrote a whole essay that nobody finished reading because we know theres a range within minutes in that area.
Meanwhile the rest of Ontario is waiting to put our equipment to work on an armed intruder.
Yall got too much time to be writing that much about nothing

4

u/ASpacebornVagabond May 02 '26

The rest of Ontario? You mean the rest of Ontario has places to shoot and the small area of Toronto on comparison are the ones waiting. Y'all Toronto people think Ontario revolves around you but only by population. The rest of the province are the ones actually producing anything while y'all suck up all the tax money

-6

u/justinoff May 02 '26

Rest of Ontario as in population because we literally outnumber anything you can do in your small town. People in toronto make more and pay more taxes because of it. You’re the one milking off of our tax money 🤦‍♂️

Name something you produce because someone toronto is obviously producing more of it. Not sure what youre producing over there but ontario gdp doesnt come from isolated rural regions. The canadian economy is literally lives on bay street for longer than youve been alive.

Completely out of touch from reality wherever you are

3

u/ASpacebornVagabond May 02 '26

Nickel ore? You produce that? No? Where I l am we make most of the world's nickel. Which pretty much every metal alloy needs. We also produce gold copper silver. We also produce tons of lumber and even have some oil and gas extraction. Not to mention heavy machine manufacturing and metal manufacturing on greater scale than Toronto. Do I need to go on? Or the fact that most miners and blue collar workers here make more than you service and "finance" bros ever could in pure non-debt leveraged cash money. Clearly you're stuck in Toronto too much. Get out of the concrete jungle and touch grass kid you're out of touch

The rest of Ontario… You mean Toronto?

61

u/gamercast1337 May 01 '26

Coulda just put the map of canada and it would have the same feeling : (

28

u/gibbs433 May 01 '26

Nah, there’s lots of access to spots to shoot and ranges in western Canada.

24

u/brandon-568 May 01 '26

Ya where I’m at in northern Alberta it’s a $80 a year membership to the range and there hardly ever anyone there, just a code lock on a gate to get in.

Plus the almost unlimited crown land in every direction.

9

u/backrollerpapertowel May 02 '26

Good lord living out that way and looking east really must be like that scene in lord of the rings where Gandalf looks towards Mordor from Gondor eh?

4

u/brandon-568 May 02 '26

Pretty much lol, I grew up in Kitchener Ontario and moved to Alberta 13 years ago. It’s the best decision I ever made

3

u/backrollerpapertowel May 02 '26

Thats my plan c. Hoping to get shit together enough to never see snow again unless it’s on tv. Should that fail im hoping to at least see it on mountains as a consolation. Id say i wish you the best, but you’re already out west lol.

2

u/BobaNugg May 02 '26

Yep same for my Alberta fun club membership, it was raised to $135/year. Combination lock entry, covered shooting benches for both 50 and 100,200,300 ranges. Most times I go shooting it’s only me.
I lived and worked at CFB Borden near Angus Ont 2010-12, only shot with the base gun club as after I did some research the cost and wait would’ve surpassed my posting to that base.

1

u/Snipez9999 May 02 '26

Where is that valley view lol?

1

u/brandon-568 May 02 '26

About an hour and a half from there

7

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

What about the places with crown land?

11

u/CombustionGFX May 01 '26

In NS you can't even target practice on crown land

4

u/RoundRefuse1740 May 01 '26

What about on your own land ?

5

u/CombustionGFX May 01 '26

Technically I think it can only be used for hunting, not plinking

Might be wrong, the rules are pretty convoluted

3

u/gmlogmd80 May 01 '26

Not sure about NS, but my instructor for NL said if you get a $10 small game license that should cover plinking on crown land. Of course you have to do your hunter's course too.

3

u/CombustionGFX May 01 '26

It's a bit of a legal loophole, I think if you're caught it's sort of like "I was actually hunting for XYZ but I missed my shots". I've heard the example with coyotes.

2

u/gspotcowboy May 01 '26

There is a permit for wildlife control somewhere in the boondoggle that is the NS natural resources website. Note that I do not know a single person who has ever acquired one for pest control lol

Otherwise you can't discharge a firearm legally in NS, even on your own land, outside of a hunting season which you have a tag for and for which your caliber applies.

Also FYI, a tag is not a license to shoot targets etc. if you have the wrong DNR officer show up and you aren't "hunting" i.e. have blaze orange etc. you can be fined under the wildlife act

3

u/HighTeckRedNeck13 May 01 '26

lol as someone in Saskatchewan I could probably shoot out to a mile from my backyard and be fine, if anything the neighbours would probably join in.

3

u/stavrogin204 May 01 '26

Tons of places to shoot in the prairie provinces. I live in rural Manitoba and shoot at a bear outfitter friend's place with a private range. Outside of bear season no one ever uses it (it's rarely used even then).

15

u/SleazyGreasyCola May 01 '26

it's even worse living in Toronto. There's Target and Gagnon, all about 1hr away or Easthill which is even further. It's sad being into shooting in the GTA in general

2

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

Well that’s to be excepted.

14

u/RoundRefuse1740 May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

I’m in Angus, I hear you. I did go shoot at the base. Signed up with the ORA for an intro day for precision shooting. Wish I knew someone with farmland. They do hold civilian match’s there. There is also the Borden rod and gun club, but I think you have to be in the military or a veteran to join. I did belong to target sports for a year, didn’t really like the indoor range.

7

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

I forgot about the one in Borden. Technically no but there is a massive wait list last I checked.

4

u/jaredw6697 May 01 '26

Im a farmer in cookstown. Sebd me a dm

3

u/ablemount May 01 '26

The Borden one has a one year wait list and the guy in charge is a total Ahole. Many people have quit because of him.

1

u/ASpacebornVagabond May 02 '26

This sucks to hear. I'm about to be posted to Borden and shooting is my number one thing I do for fun. I hope I can find somewhere to shoot once I'm down there

2

u/ablemount May 02 '26

No waiting if CF or Vet. Director is CF and okay. The Ass Director is the Ahole who thinks he is in charge. He's just a civvy. But he is an abusive bully.

The gun club is part of the PSP under the CFMWS. I think you may enjoy it anyways.

2

u/ASpacebornVagabond May 03 '26

That sounds okay then. As long as I don't have to really deal with the nasty civ guy then I'll be alright. At my local range I'm a member of here in Sudbury one of the directors has it out for me, I've never figured out why but my guess is the fact that I like to wear camo and use chest rigs since he's bitched at me for only that. He's not a vet or anything, he's just a rude old dude. He's the action range director too and used to run three gun events so idk what his deal is. I just wanna enjoy some shooting and chill out, it's been safer than dirt biking so far lol!

2

u/ablemount May 03 '26

Must be this guy's brother! lol

1

u/ablemount May 03 '26

Some of our guys wear camouflage, including the director. He is very experienced with firearms and sometimes teaches lessons for free.

2

u/ASpacebornVagabond May 04 '26

Sounds like a spot I'll enjoy! Borden sounds like it won't be so bad!

2

u/6point5creedmoor May 03 '26

If you join the ORA they run lots of events and are usually totally chill with you shooting while another event is going on. I e. If some guys are shooting f class and you are trying to practice service rifle you can usually just do that. Borden is pretty well the easiest way to get a really good 1000 yard range.

1

u/ASpacebornVagabond May 03 '26

Okay, so as a CAF member I won't really have to deal with the mean dude? I have a makasi on preorder too so I have something I can train with that's similar to my service rifle. I leave for BMQ on the 23rd so I don't know what the rules are yet, but I assume since I'm going to be an ammo tech is have less official range time than someone that's combat Arms. My uncle who's a MWO joked that since I'm travelling Ning in Borden I'll be stuck there, but that's not so bad to me. Especially if that range is decent like you said. Thanks for the heads up!

2

u/6point5creedmoor May 03 '26

The ORA is mostly civilians I think, you dont need need to be military there.

Just know that practicing at the ORA events will only be for very slow deliberate fire and a semi auto with anything less than a very expensive match grade barrel will get VERY boring fast.

Don't shoot civi side to get better military side just ask to shoot your pwt3 more than once a year with your units training and standards cell if they are chill.

Borden hosts a lot of range days a year and while I was there I had quite a racket going and shot a pet like every month for a while. Get to know people and gain the confidence of your CoC as a good worker and they will help you out if you wanna shoot.

u/GhostOoOooo May 01 '26

Posts like this make me grateful to have the ability to walk out my front door and drive my atv 2 minutes to get to my personal range. My advice? Befriend a farmer (or me. I need more gun buddies)

I already have one of those but I'm accepting applications for innawoods boogs, LARPers with good trigger discipline, and anybody willing to buy me ice cream

1

u/Wrong-Temperature285 May 01 '26

What's your preferred flavor?

Or do you prefer a surprise each visit?

3

u/GhostOoOooo May 01 '26

Cookie dough or blueberry cheesecake is hard to beat.

1

u/Thegears89 May 02 '26

I can definitely show up with ice cream

1

u/backrollerpapertowel May 02 '26

If your serious and its alright with you shoot me a dm, I’m always interested in meeting like minded folks and depending on where about in Ontario your at.

Also

What brand ice cream? Ben and jerry Chapmans? I don’t discriminate.

0

u/GhostOoOooo May 02 '26

Since moving to ON I have become a Chapmans stan.

1

u/ASpacebornVagabond May 02 '26

If you're near the Borden base I'd be glad to join you once I'm posted. I already drive 45 minutes one way to shoot here in Sudbury.

1

u/GhostOoOooo May 02 '26

Unfortunately I'm about 2 hours from cfb borden :(

1

u/ASpacebornVagabond May 02 '26

Well it'll just have the be an eventbthen, 2 hours isn't the worst if you make a day of it. Maybe I'll be lucky and find something closer

1

u/Hopeful-Spare-7925 May 02 '26

Id like to join your personal gun club as well

1

u/eldiabIo May 19 '26

Where the ice cream club at im down

3

u/jollygreengiant1655 May 01 '26

This is the really great part of this community, total strangers willing to help others.

3

u/hardcorechronie May 01 '26

East Elgin Sportsmen's Association

3

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

From Barrie that’s a 2 hour and 30 minute drive.

3

u/Flat-Dark-Earth Big Bore Specialist May 01 '26

Crown land an hour north is your best bet for affordable plinking.

3

u/No-Inspector6242 May 03 '26

I need to be more grateful. I can drive 30 mins and shoot 280yards in a sand pit. And a 50 yard gun range 5 mins down the road 😁.

2

u/Hot_Cheesecake_905 May 01 '26

Yeah, I agree, there is a need for more shooting facilities, its really hard for GTA residents to find an accessible place.

I live in the area, so unless you shell out for Sharon, only want to shoot shotguns, or are willing to endure indoor lead poisoning, it's the best choice in the area. Membership renewals for the club run from now until July, so there are a lot of rental shares available, but it will likely cost you $1,400+ for the rent plus membership dues to join, plus the probationary period. There are no caliber or ammunition restrictions on the rifle ranges (except for birdshot and buckshot, which you have to use on other ranges).

1

u/Sad-Trash-7101 May 02 '26

Dang I always wanted to join Sharon but it’s too dang expensive…

2

u/FenderFanatic May 01 '26

I live in northern Saskatchewan and for a year I was a member at a shotgun club. No wait list, walk ins welcome, plenty of rental selection. Had to drive 4 hours one way to get there though. Leave home around 8am get there at noon, shoot for a few hours and drive another 4 hours back home. The membership and all was well priced but the gas is what killed me.

1

u/backrollerpapertowel May 02 '26

Similar here. Family’s got a farm 4 hours away, but between gas up there and back vs range dues i realized it was cheaper to just get a membership locally and save the farm trips for hunting season. And this was before gas prices got even more insane.

1

u/FenderFanatic May 02 '26

The only sporting option I have locally is smallbore silhouette. Unfortunately anything else is 4+ hours away.

2

u/GooseGosselin May 01 '26

You can go ahead a zoom out that map to all of Canada.

2

u/AssMilkerTv May 01 '26

Not enough outdoor ranges anywhere and crown lands can be very sketchy

2

u/phillybuster2765 May 01 '26

So my suggestion… Bridgeport rod and gun (north waterloo) Bietz rd About an hr from Toronto Outdoor ranges only 25/100yd trap/skeet archery $200/year $100 extra for first year initiation

2

u/robertpeacock22 May 01 '26

That's a shitty area to live, full-stop. Before you start with me, I'm Barrie born and raised, so I'm allowed to say it.

3

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

Oh no I agree. It’s a shitty area to live. No benefits of the city and if you don’t live rural you live in shitty subrub most likely.

2

u/jollygreengiant1655 May 01 '26

This area sucks in general. I cringe every time I have to drive through it to head north.

2

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

It’s nothing but suburbs pretty much. If you hit the rural areas it’s nice farm land and a handful of forests scattered around but you go into any of the towns and it’s just subrubs.

2

u/jollygreengiant1655 May 01 '26

It used to be nicer 10 years ago. Now the gta has migrated out and it's been way too much growth without everything else to support it. Meanwhile all the towns seem to be trying to tell themselves that they are still the stereotypical small towns they used to be.

2

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

Yep. It’s actually painful. They are trying to live in a past that does not exist anymore. These areas want to pretend to be a small town yet want to keep increasing the population via largely suburbs. It’s not sustainable.

2

u/backrollerpapertowel May 02 '26

I go that way to get up north. Its crazy to see the change in the small town i always visit on my way. Its like those videos of cancer or leprosy spreading, but its just the GTA. What used to be beautiful woods and brush or farm land is not copy paste crappy lil subdivisions, and worse is the change the people who move into them bring, they all flee the city but then bring the city with them.

2

u/lerch_up_north lost in the praries May 01 '26

Thank you, I'll remember to never complain about the BWA range and annual fee of $70-80.

2

u/MRcrete May 01 '26

Meh, I live and shoot in that area. It pays to make friends I guess.

2

u/Musclecity May 02 '26

Southwestern Ontario is over populated so it's tough for sure . I used to shoot in Huron county with my grandfather quite a bit when I was younger. I live in Southern Alberta now and there's tons of Crown land and or Farmers to shoot with that have their own land. I feel bad for anybody in the GTA I could never live there.

3

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 02 '26

The worst part about that region is that you don't even get any benefits of a more urban area. The public transit is shit in a lot of those areas or non existent. So much of it is just endless suburban sprawl it's ridiculous. Can't even densify a tiny bit.

2

u/Mr_J_Browning May 02 '26

I drive up to Gravenhurst right now. 45 min. Great gun club. Only a 100yd range though. Need a place to shoot long distance near Barrie. Oddly enough CFB Borden is certified for .308 but won't allow a 300prc - it's a .308.

2

u/JacobA89 May 02 '26

If your looking to shoot long distance for this area join ORA and shoot at borden. Or just drive down the 11 for an hour and go into crown land.

5

u/0672216 May 01 '26

Ottawa area sucks too. One public range in the entire city and virtually no crown land nearby.

9

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

To be fair atleast Stittsville is a nice range. Good distances.

3

u/0672216 May 01 '26

Stittsville is great. Only open to public saturday and sunday though and I find it’s usually quite packed on sunny days lol.

9

u/FuryHD1080p May 01 '26

Depends what you mean public, we have SSR on west side, EOSC on east side, RA centre in central, Connaught. All with reasonable member availability and price. ssr is little pricey. Also has Cornwall, Grenville nearby. We are much better than Toronto.

2

u/0672216 May 01 '26

I mean places I can just show up with my PAL and my gun and shoot targets. Only place I’m aware of is Stittsville. All the rest are members only afaik.

Think I’ll look into joining EOSC this year, seems to fit what I’m looking for and is a bit closer to me than Stittsville.

7

u/tetraacetic May 01 '26

iirc there is crown land south of Ottawa when driving up the 416. Near Kemptville?

3

u/0672216 May 01 '26

We used to shoot south of Kemptville out around Spencerville but it’s not allowed anymore because of some irresponsible and dirty people leaving garbage and casings all over.

6

u/CurlyWurly61 May 01 '26

Join NCRRA and you could shoot at Connaught range which I believe they are expecting to reach 1000 yards this June

6

u/inadaquet May 01 '26

Stitsville has a decent range. Plenty of crown land out near Renfrew/Calabogie which can make for a nice day of shooting.

5

u/ottawafireguy May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Check EOSC, about 30 minutes from Orleans, beautiful place (I’m kind of biased) with a 50/100/200 rifle range, 7 multi use 45 yard bays and 3 x 15 yard pistol bays. Shoot from 9 am to dusk, 365 days a year, membership is around $375 (?). Lots of disciplines: IPSC, IDPA, Cowboy Action, Rimfire PRS and a Milsurp match every 2-3 months.

1

u/0672216 May 01 '26

I’ve actually been there a few times with a buddy who used to be member and enjoyed it. If I remember correctly, there’s no range officers or staff and it’s like a self-check in type of thing?

Tbh I pay SSR more than 375 a year in hourly range fees so I feel like I might as well look into a membership somewhere at this point.

2

u/ottawafireguy May 01 '26

Membership intake is in the spring and fall but go online and sign up to get notifications.

Range staff are all volunteers.

It has a card swipe in and out gate system now.

2

u/0672216 May 01 '26

Last time I was there we signed in on sheets in a little cabin at the entrance, it’s been a while lol.

Going to put myself on the intake list tonight, thanks!

1

u/Yabutsk May 01 '26

Unless your sport is biathlon. There're more clubs in the immediate area pictured than anywhere else in Canada. As someone who lives more than a couple hours away from the nearest club, I'm a little jealous.

I do live near cheap accessible indoor/outdoor ranges and crown land....but sadly no biathon for me, unless I make my own range and course, which I've done a couple times, but it's tremendous upkeep.

3

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

Sure but most of those ranges got wait lists.

2

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

Funnily enough these ranges still are all in high demand despite all the gun bans. You would have to ban guns down to the muzzle loader to competely kill these ranges.

1

u/tomnevermind May 01 '26

Lots of county forested areas that allow hunting/guns - look a little harder before the blanket statement

2

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

Mind sharing some of those or?

1

u/tomnevermind May 02 '26

Simcoe County Forests, anywhere from tiny, angus, the nottawasaga valley, all around the Georgian Bay Area - tons of places that permit hunting and therefore shooting. Be respectful, clean up after yourself and be prepared to encounter someone who thinks this is illegal and will bring the police to check you out but it perfectly legal so show your PAL and they leave

1

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 02 '26

I know about the Simcoe County Forests and from my understanding from the posted signs they don't allow sport shooting. Hunting yes but sport shooting no.

1

u/Rogan403 May 02 '26

That doesn't look like the entire map of Canada.

1

u/Rjj1111 May 02 '26

You can extend that to cover north of elmvale

Yea that’s true.

This is really depending on what type of shooting you are try to do. And It's a big area, if you live on the east side of it which is close to 404, you get Sharon and Target sports within 10-15minutes drive. And join ORA would be able to let you shoot out to 1000 within 30minutes driving from anywhere of the circled area.

I lived in Toronto and drove up to Barrie club to shoot. Lol you are crazy.

2

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

Again. As I have said to several people here. Toronto is to be excepted. It’s literally the biggest city in Canada.

I’m new to the Barrie area… I was trying to figure out the crown land situation regarding shooting. Any tips ?

u/blueline731 May 01 '26

Unfortunately your best bet is to move to the country and buy land. I plan on buying some land up north just for shooting and hunting.

u/Opening_Pizza May 01 '26

lol own goal "Well apart from that being a very boomer suggestion that’s just not realistic for most people. That’s 100,000s to buy enough land in a area to legally shoot on."

5

u/GodsGiftToWrenching May 01 '26

100,00's of thousands for a quarter of scrub land at least

Put a house on it or working utilities ran onto the property and you're pretty much at a million or more. Which is immediately impossible for like > 90% of the population even working good trades jobs

This is exactly what I’m saying. The poors can’t fathom doing anything but dooming

3

u/RoundRefuse1740 May 01 '26

You can buy recreational land for cheap, but it’s all they up by Timmins

-3

u/blueline731 May 01 '26

Get your money up then. I said your best bet, not the most economic option.

5

u/GodsGiftToWrenching May 01 '26

"Want scrub land for the price of a house in town or a piece of property with a house for over a million? Just acquire currency"

Insert Willam Defoe gif from american psycho

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

To be fair I have thought about that before but then reality hit it when I started investing.

8

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

We got a boomer here folks.

u/Dantheislander May 01 '26

“Try being rich” weird advice for a non Fi subreddit eh?

1

u/blueline731 May 01 '26

I am under 30 lol. Mechanical engineer, own a few companies now. Technically Gen Z I believe.

2

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

Other people have told you already why your math ain’t mathing.

2

u/blueline731 May 01 '26

What are you talking about? I haven’t provided any math. Get some cash and buy property somewhere where you can hunt and shoot. You need to save up and be willing to drive. If you don’t have any money, then you’ll need to find a more economical option. I am not providing that.

2

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

Buddy. Again. The cheapest properties in this area are 100,000s of dollars. Most people don’t have the money to drop 100,000s of dollars on rec property these days.

1

u/blueline731 May 01 '26

Buddy, unfortunately that’s a you problem. Again, I am not offering you a one size fits all solution. I said your ‘best bet’, as in, this is the best solution. If you don’t have the capital then that is not an option for you. You didn’t mention in your post that you have no money, otherwise I wouldn’t have said so.

1

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

That’s a 90% of the population of Canada problem.

You are offering a like 10% of the population if that solution.

Not really. Literally putting your name down on any of these gun clubs and waiting for five years even is a better solution as you don’t end up dropping 6 figures to buy rec land.

Which that’s also not a option for again. 90% of the population.

No money < don’t have the money to drop on buying 6 figure rec land like most of the population of Canada.

This is not a good take

1

u/GhostOoOooo May 01 '26

Lol what a dickhead

1

u/blueline731 May 02 '26

Apparently the only dickhead around here with a couple bucks laying around.

2

u/GhostOoOooo May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

If hundreds of thousands of dollars is a couple bucks to you and you talk down to others for not having what you have then yes, you are a dickhead.

2

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 02 '26

Hey hey now. He said to me eventually if it's not 'economical' for you to do that then it's not economical. Like bruh. That's not economical for 90% of the population. Also the idea of just 'buying land up north.' Kind of neglects to understand the point of this post. The point of this post is to point out there is no areas near by to shoot. Like I'm sorry but not everyone is in the position to drive 4 hours to get to a shooting spot. Like the only way I could see that 90% of people being able to afford shooting land would be to have a time share situation where you all buy into a piece of property and it's a property where you can hunt and shoot. That's it. That is the only financially realistic method I could see. However how many people know and trust enough people that they could do that with? Not many. That's also funnily enough why a lot of new gun clubs aren't getting made. Gun clubs require people to know each other to make one if they are not for profit. People are a lot more isolated now adays thanks to the death of the third space.

I didn't read alllll of that, but... maybe you urban boys that have hobbies or lifestyles that don't fit your location should just move or find new hobbies?

5

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 01 '26

Ah we got a “If you don’t like it why don’t you leave.” And a “Just get another hobby.” This kind of mentality is what kills shooting sports fyi.

0

u/WhatisSuperheat May 02 '26

It's a more of a "quit your bitching"

2

u/Natural_Comparison21 May 02 '26

I didn’t see a ‘quit your bitching’ anywhere in your comment. I did read a lot of “Maybe just give up bro.”
