I learned M1 Garand and M1903 rifle drills back in the school and the Army. I tried to do the same movements on SKS. I would say the basic drills are fine but the advanced movements are harder to perform.

We kinda do, except they’d be consider regf. You can take civvies uni route or RMC. seems to me like a significant portion of ROTC goes to regf down there anyways.

Canadian present arms drills/general salute is a little more complex than this, both for the RCMP and CAF, and allows for much less mistakes imo

I often consider classic rifles like these better than modern day firearms . just my opinion though .

Damn, some keyboard warriors in the comments. I'd hope in a guns sub we would have more people appreciating militaria, instead of vague political posts.
As for "we couldnt do this here" comments, I don't know why people are saying that? Its not that difficult and every CAF member does it in BMQ/basic training. Of course reaching the level of crispness as the soldier depicted here is another thing, but I doubt every troop is at that level or else theyd be filming a whole platoon instead of making an example of one soldier/cadet..
Its cool to see another country's drill. We have something similar to what they did at the end: general salute or Present arms. Its really neat and id encourage anyone interested in this kind of stuff to check it out.
