Bill C-21 and the OIC has been a significant topic in the house of commons. Regardless of which side of the aisle you stand, the conversations about guns are often polarized and emotionally charged. Misunderstandings on both sides can lead to mistrust, oversimplified stereotypes, and policies that fail to reflect the complexity of the issue. Encouraging dialogue rooted in respect, education, and shared values can help create a more informed and constructive public conversation.

Please watch the attached video and consider what Professor Yamane has to say. If we can bridge the gap between the most polarized on the firearms spectrum, I believe we can make better policy to benefit Canada.

We sure can make better policy to benefit Canada, it's called repealing bill c21 and the OICs. Canada does not have a legal gun problem, it has an illegal gun problem.

If we take away the guns, we will still be a country plagued by criminals. If we put away the criminals we will no longer have a gun problem.

Prisons don’t solve the problem of crime or the USA wouldn’t have any crime at all. Not a fan of facts eh?

These are the stats:

The United States holds one of the highest incarceration rates globally, with approximately 1.8 million people in prison or jail as of 2025-2026, often ranking in the top 5 worldwide. While representing only about 4% of the world's population, the U.S. has often held around 20% of the world's prisoners, significantly outpacing other countries.

Comparison to Others: The U.S. holds the largest number of prisoners globally, with over 1.8 million in adult facilities. China, which has a population over four times larger, is estimated to have a lower number of sentenced prisoners (1.69 million in 2018), though comparisons are difficult due to data transparency.

America has a plethora of problems stemming from their very beginning. Unfortunately its a bell that cannot be unrung. I do believe they could fix it if they wanted to. But I also believe that elites in the US are exploiting their own population for their personal gain.

Not that the Liberals aren't stacking the deck in their favor in the same way right now, but that's another discussion.

Right! And you can’t get housing or jobs afterwards also leading to a cycle of poverty and crime. While private prison profits take off.

Do you think everyone that’s commits a crime with a gun wakes up that day and plans on killing somebody? Sometimes getting drunk and having a gun handy is enough to turn a church going guy into a prisoner. But if he didn’t have access to a gun he might not be a criminal.

Canada has just fine storage laws for legal owners. No legal gun is ever out in public or where you'd get drunk. I wake up with guns every morning. I've gotten drunk plenty of times. I don't want to kill anyone, nor do I think "hey there's a shotgun in my truck, I should just shoot this guy." Because we're not the problem. But it's ME you're talking about taking guns away from. And just a few of my guns. I have many, many more. So even if 100% of this plan went perfectly you have not disarmed me. You've just taken about $4000 of my stuff. Remember this campaign is not aimed at Johnny Criminal with a smuggled Glock. Not Karen Krime who deals drugs downtown with a revolver in her pocket. Nope - they're fine. But father & family man, mechanic and part time farmer Hanz? He can't have those guns. They want to take Mrs. Hanz stuff too. A woman manager of incredible skills, education and accreditation in charge of millions of dollars of inventory... she can't be trusted.

However if you remove Karen and Johnny from society you will be safer.

the current liberals have no issues with illegal guns.. they are already banned.... therefore a police matter.. what the minster of gophers and pop cans was saying its a Legal gun problem as they they one mental health episode from going Postal

The problem as I see it is that there is still a massive gap between us and the average person. This has been created by the most polarizing on either end of the debate spectrum. Unfortunately, our politicians aren't helping.

We need to bridge that gap and find a way where the average person doesn't feel afraid of firearms. We don't need them to become an owner, we just need them to understand how the laws work and understand how 95% of the community are law-abiding.

Sadly, we're plagued by the social burden put on us by the worst offenders.
