If I had a valid tag, I'd seriously consider it, but most ranges take offense at members shooting live targets, so the stew is probably not worth the heat

Yeah it’s in our rules. No shooting if wildlife is on the range.

If I had a tag and wouldn’t break any hunting regs, I’d fully send it and deal with any range fallout later. Not every day you get a chance to take a bear. Depending on how busy the range is and whether they have surveillance, the range likely wouldn’t know, anyway.

I don't necessarily disagree but it would really depend on the location of the range and what firearm you had available. I wouldn't want any risk at all of buggering the shot and having a wounded predator running around if the range was anywhere near homes, property or livestock.

You might risk getting banned. Why not get a tag and go into the wild to capture one by yourself and save yourself the trouble?
