Misc Happy with the way this cheek pad turned out!
Finally finished a leather cheek pad / recoil pad addition for the Pedersoli Sharps in 45-70 Govt. Incorporated a little Métis Buffalo hunter flair in the design (using a Hudson Bay Company Coventry Sash). Cheek piece is an adjustable belted flap in which varying portions of the Sash can be rolled and clamped under it.
Gun range is CDTSA near Milo AB.

Love that setup. Not even Métis myself but I’d rock that. This is a modern repo sharps?

Not as good as I'd like yet. Inside of 400m its accurate. But by 500m the bullets seem to destabilize resulting in extreme amounts of vertical deviation.

Can you use modern .45-70 load in those ? Since it is a modern reproduction.

Modern Trapdoor Pressure tier loads. <29,000 PSI. Technically it can't even handle what many would run through their lever actions!

From my understanding there are 3 tiers of 45-70 loads. I believe most Pedersoli Sharps are CIP proofed and can handle up to the mid tier which is what most commercial ammo is loaded to. I could be wrong though and depending on the date of manufacture could vary.
Trapdoor <18,000psi Modern smokeless <28,000psi +P smokeless <33,000 psi

Gorgeous work, need me some more shots of that buttpad id love to recreate it. Ive got my sash from when i was a boy this seems like an awesome way to use it
