Milsurps / Prohib I learn something new everyday

I never knew there was another Semi-Auto other than;

BAR

SKS

Citadel

M1 Garand

I wish I had the $$ to drop on this sexy rifle

Valmets are cool.

Just FYI there are a couple dozen semi auto rifles in 308, 30.06 or similar.

Thats... shocking to me. I am going to assume they are priced above $3000?

Intersurplus has some ones I've never heard of. Sauer 303, Benelli Argo, well under $3000.

Yeah. Mine was.

Plenty of European options for semi-auto 308s, 8mm, 7mm etc.

Just because yours was doesn't mean everything. Your giving op the wrong idea.

I was thinking Sauer 303, Merkel SR1, FN49, HK’s etc.

The Browning BARs, Benelli R1s, Winchester SXR2 are around $2000.

The Turkish rifles and Remington 742 will be $1000 or under.

The most common ones that are actually good are under $2000.

The most common one is the Remington 740 series, which are under $1000, but they have some drawbacks.

thinks like the remington 742 are still 600-800 bucks. but thats also because they are sorta terrible and the action beats itself to death.

First rifle I ever had, likely the worst I’ve ever owned.

I have an old Remington 742 semi automatic in .308. Just don't tell Natalie Provost they're out there or they'll be added to the list.

I was debating on a browning BAR before gen 3 came out, and I realized a gen 1 is basically impossible to fully disassemble without a machine shop...
