Buy recommendations Looking to build a precision 22lr rifle, question about chassis, MDT XRS vs MDT LSS Gen3
Hello!
Looking to build myself a good 22lr precision rifle. I want to put it in a chassis. I like MDT I want to go with an MDT one. I already have a rifle on an Oryx chassis and another rifle on an XRS chassis. My budget would be around 800-900 for the chassis. I currently prefer the XRS over the Oryx, but looking at MDT website, there is the LSS Gen 3 Worker kit in the same budget. For those who know the LSS Gen 3 chassis, is it better than the XRS or I should stick with the XRS I already I like? Since it will go on a 22lr, weight of the chassis can be light (the XRS is somewhat heavy) and the LSS seems lighter.

My comp gun build for my 22LR using our Deuce 2.0 is a LSS Gen 3 15” comp forend and the STS buttstock, but I shoot 3 XRS’s as well. Long and the short of it one isn’t necessarily better than the other. Personally, I like the more traditional stock shape over a pistol grip chassis.
Also to touch on the Deuce, its main benefit is using a Remington 700 SA footprint so it will fit whatever chassis as long as its inletted for that.

Since it will go on a 22lr
What platform are you planning? Which rifle?
For precision shooting, I would avoid the 10/22 despite it being very customizable.

I have two T1X; one in Oryx, one in Field stock, both are great. I actually really like the XRS (I have a 457 in one) for benchshooting. If I were to build one again, today, I'll go for XRS. The LSS Gen3 is really nice, but to get the same / similar features, you'll be over-budget.

Did you (can you?) buy just the T1X barrelled action, or did you buy a complete rifle and remove the original stock?

I haven't seen T1X barreled action sold separately, only complete rifles. But I recommend waiting for stoeger beretta sales (happens 3x a year), and remember to go for the 20" model in black synthetic stock. (The factory synthetic stock is not that great, btw. Chassis upgrade is a must) The other T1X models have nicer chassis but are really overpriced (hunter / wood, UPR / polymer, ACE Target / aluminum) and aren't worth it at all. Best deal is T1X black synthetic on sale + MDT.

Hey i saw your 4 tm22 builds i saw on the ria feather had a m4 stock ive wanted to get one but cant find one to work with commercial spec stock whered you get yours

Thx for the tips, man — yeah, I wanted to avoid overpaying for a stock I wouldn’t use / would struggle to resell.
I’d like to get a T1X and put it in an Oryx chassis to use as a trainer.

If I was to build a brand new PRS rig I would go with the LSS Gen3 personally. The customization options will allow you to tweak and add on later if there's a part you don't like without having to buy a whole new chassis. You can also build it out to be essentially the same as an XRS if that's the style you want.
Big downside is price, but you can start cheaper and add parts later if that's a concern.
XRS and Oryx chassis' are both great though, so if that's what you want to go with either will serve you well.

personally i wouldn’t go .22lr, id go .223 rem

Rimfire PRS is a specific discipline, so .22 rifles are required there

The LSS G3 is definitely the more modular/customizable of the two. Buy the Worker Kit now and then with a few upgrades over time when funds allow, you could end up with something very similar to the ACC Premier.
Weight on a precision 22 is more about rifle balance since recoil is essentially null, and the Worker Kit may be slightly rear heavy with the short forend compared to the XRS.
