Shooting Long Range

Hey everyone, hope your having a wonderful day. I live in calgary and have been wanting to start doing long range until now I've only shot up until around 3-4 hundred yards. I have been trying to find a spot which is longer and havent been able to is there anywhere you guys know where I would be able to do find a longer range. Thank you

I am in Calgary and wondering where you even found 300-400 yards?

The only places I know are the ranges (long wait list) and the rocky mountain house range (I think that's the one) with 1600m

Interesting. I just started going to Waiparpus a few months ago and haven't really ventured off the road, mostly because I didn't randomly want to walk through snow hoping to find a spot.

I'm going to need to check out McLean Creek. I just assumed that that place would be covered with Jeeps

Hunter Valley road often yields some good secluded shooting spots. But you usually have to walk a few hundred meters off the road to a high spot (and to avoid potentially being in violation of some laws). THEN you gotta walk your gong out and back to the distance you want to shoot. Lots of work but your huffing fresh air and seeing beautiful scenery.

I only say McLean Creek because many others insist there is some really good long range spots there. I personally haven't gone looking for them and ultimately hate shooting there because of all the crazy people you usually crosspaths with. On top of that, theres a bazillion "Provincal Trails" you gotta dance around since legally your not allowed to pass a bullet within 400m of them (outside of hunting scenarios).

Thanks for that! I am going to check out Hunter Valley road.

That was my fear with McLean Creek. A long time ago I used to own a Jeep and go play in the mud there and I figured it would suck to shoot there
