Lucky, what club? Mine insists on IPSC BB to shoot dynamic 😡

OP has his IPSC black badge, and that is indeed a requirement to shoot dynamic at our AMA club. It's how we keep the range insured, the participants safe, and the sport's reputation in good standing.

The black badge course is not a silly random requirement; it's a valuable course that teaches safe techniques and requires demonstrating those skills and a reasonable level of marksmanship and firearm handling to pass. IPSC has a much better safety record than softball, soccer, or golf and it's because of training standards and rule enforcement.

The black badge course is also fun and challenging and you will meet lots of like minded shooters. Contact your local IPSC organization and sign up for the next black badge course - you won't regret it

Without a handgun, it’s hard to do BB 🤨

IPSC requires a BB for rifle and shotgun disciplines.

IPSC Canada needs new rules, or IPSC will die a slow death due to the inaccessibility of a handgun.

Nothing in life worth doing is easy. OP borrowed a handgun and completed his black badge that way. If you don't know anyone with a handgun, I guess you better spend more time at the range and try to make friends.
You are correct that IPSC requires a black badge for other disciplines, and so they offer limited BB courses for those, but if you do it with a pistol then you get to do the other disciplines by default.
I agree that the sport is going to need to evolve in Canada over time, but there's still lots of handgun shooters at all the matches I attend, and they don't all own handguns.

Yep got too cocky and I’m gonna say that cost me the gold medal in production. I’m still very happy with silver haha

Silver is still good!

Needed to strip that extra round into the chamber!

Watching this makes me so bummed about the state of our country.

Nice shooting though.

Wish we.cpuld do this with our banned rifles.

If you’re a non handgun owner how are you shaking off the rust? Not trying to be rude just curious as a fellow NHO. Looks like some good shooting

My nearest range is not allowed dynamic shooting. Me and my friend who loans me his gun had trouble making the 4 hour trip to the IPSC range during the winter. Now that the snow is gone we can start attending more matches.

Also 4 hours of driving is a commitment, much respect!

Can I be your friend’s friend?

Man I wish silverdale did this

u/Infinite_Price_3550 Apr 22 '26

I think they want to but because of stupid stuff happening in the past I think it’s making it hard to happen.
