Milsurps / Prohib SKS Imports?
Anyone know if there will be more sks / french tickler imports anytime soon?

Yeah but it’s gonna be an arm and a leg for what they are. I love my SKS’s too, but Russians are about $900 rn, type 56 Chinese are about $750-$850, and French ticklers are about $900-$1000 pre tax.
Low key been thinking about trying to figure out where in the world (literally out of country) I could find crates of them and import myself as it’s probably more economical depending on the importing hoops and custom fees.

Unfortunately most of the stores were located in the eastern part of the country, as the Soviets strategically located them away from the hypothetical front line during the Cold War, so they became impossible to access after 2014.

So you have the Russians, they are standard and from my understanding they are are all pretty much the exact same with some very rare exceptions.
Next you got the standard Chinese type 56’s. They come in wood or if they are in bad shape they will take the wood stock off and throw it in one of those generic ATI plastic stocks. The type 56’s are the older models, pre 1970-something I believe.
Next, you got the French tickler. They are the more recently produced (late 1970’s-1989/1990) and are usually in the best shape and often were never even issued to troops so they were never even fired or if they were fired, it was very little.
You also got the SKS-D and SKS-MC, which are also Chinese and they take your standard AK magazine instead of the internal box magazine. They were kind of an in-between step for China where they had not developed the Type-81 yet (the Chinese take of the AK-47) and so they threw on the ability to take detachable box magazines. Until they developed the Type-81 of course.
There are more variations from different countries such as the Yugo SKS from what used to be Yugoslavia. Plus many others from different cold-war communist countries. Notable ones would be the East Berlin SKS (exceptionally rare, like they go for 20-CAD30,000 from my understanding) or the Vietnamese SKS or the EXTREMELY RARE North Korean SKS. Romanian SKS is also a thing (although iv heard that the metal quality is garbage with them so they are rare and shit).

Yep. Chinese military firearms are banned in states. The only exemption I know is shotgun registered for farming purposes. All the sks in states are pretty old.

Can you explain to me what you mean?
If north Sylva or marstar or whoever wants to get a new shipment in the country from China... I haven't red anywhere that it was impossible.

As for embargo in states, here
“It is the policy of the United States to deny licenses and other approvals with respect to defense articles and defense services originating in certain countries or areas. This policy applies to Afghanistan, Belarus (one of the states composing the former Soviet Union), Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Mongolia, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and Vietnam. This policy applies to countries or areas with respect to which the United States maintains an arms embargo (e.g., Burma, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Liberia, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, and UNITA (Angola)). It also applies when an import would not be in furtherance of world peace and the security and foreign policy of the United States.”
You CAN import Chinese sks to Canada because yes my friend, Canada does not have a embargo on that.

They constantly say “last shipment ever!!!!11” but the truth is china probably made BILLIONS of SKSs so I’m sure they’ll keep coming in periodically either until it gets banned, we somehow go to war with china, or the world is consumed by atomic fire. Notice I didn’t mention running out of SKSs. I think all of those other things will happen before we genuinely see the last SKS shipment from china.
Now it’s just a game of if the SKS is worth the asking price. I honestly don’t see myself wanting to ever pay more than 650$ for a tickler, so I’ll just pass on owing one.

Not at the time.
There is only ati sks assembled with aftermarket parts and replacements.
Not until they find another bunker full of old stocks that are forgotten for ages

While the shitty Ati ones are what’s widely still available, a few of my LGS still have unfired factory 26 blade Sks for around the $800 mark. Just have to keep your eye out, and check gunpost periodically. Some great deals pop up there

Probably waiting on North Syvla to import thousands from Norinco. They probably got tens of thousands stashed in warehouses throughout China.
