Owning guns- Right or Privilege?

So obviously here in Canada our government sees private firearm ownership as a privilege rather than a right. My question is, how you guys feel? Do you think gun ownership is a right or a privilege?

When you look at other things people view as rights, such as abortion, freedom of expression and freedom of religion etc. These are all viewed by most as inherently “good rights”, but in many countries these rights are restricted. I think, along with many others, that it is justified to ignore unjust laws that restrict human rights.

I personally believe that firearm ownership is a fundamental human right because it protects all of our other rights and freedoms from being taken away. So even though legally speaking firearm ownership is a privilege that can be taken away at any time here in Canada, I don’t agree with the way our country and many others treat firearm ownership.

My right to express myself is every bit as important as your right to be safe and secure, that’s how rights work.

But you do not have the absolute right to express yourself. There is a limit to your right becuase it can infringe on mine.

Neither is more important and neither is absolute. That's what happens when you live in a society. Ultimately it may be decided by the courts as to what is the most reasonable solution.

I've been very consistent that no right is absolute. You can pretend otherwise all you would like.

It's not, but you're as mistaken with that as your belief that individuals in Canada have a right to firearms. We do not.

Show me where that right is enshrined.

Please show me what section of the charter covers property.

Also the concept of self-determination applies to a collective of peoples, not to a specific individual.

None of the rights you have listed are absolute and none specifically include firearms.
