So obviously here in Canada our government sees private firearm ownership as a privilege rather than a right. My question is, how you guys feel? Do you think gun ownership is a right or a privilege?
When you look at other things people view as rights, such as abortion, freedom of expression and freedom of religion etc. These are all viewed by most as inherently “good rights”, but in many countries these rights are restricted. I think, along with many others, that it is justified to ignore unjust laws that restrict human rights.
I personally believe that firearm ownership is a fundamental human right because it protects all of our other rights and freedoms from being taken away. So even though legally speaking firearm ownership is a privilege that can be taken away at any time here in Canada, I don’t agree with the way our country and many others treat firearm ownership.

It's a privilege for sure and the 2A sort of "defend muh freedumbs" arguement is outdated, kooky and stupid. Our rights get peeled away like an onion all over the western world, the powers that be are being comically overt about it these days, and no one is doing shit.
It was a great idea to keep European powers from re-invading the colonies in the 18th century, but these days a western nation would bring horrors beyond human comprehension to bear against a rebellion. People who think that being able to own machines guns would save them are kooks. Few casualties in modern war are caused by bullets, and you can't afford a 5th gen attack aircraft, a MANPAD or even a fleet of good drones. The true resistance in the 21st century is sig-int, cyber attacks and electronic warfare. Your gun won't save you when they know everything about you and can cook your brain with some kind of directed energy horror weapon.
I think we should have guns just because they're fun. The pre-2020 system we had going on up here worked well enough and gun crime using legally owned guns was super low. The current happenings aren't about "disarming the populace" because even if we had something like an absolutely unrestricted right to bear arms, we'd get vaporized if it came to that. It's just about publicity stunts to get votes from urban Canadian moms. Cripplingly more boring than the "first step to dictatorship" all the kooks blabber about.
