Milsurps / Prohib The big reveal...

I recently picked up a 1945 Long Branch No 4 Mk 1*. the rifle itself was in desperate need of a deep clean, came installed with a civilian butt pad, needed an extractor, a new magazine, and had bent front sight protectors. after some fantastic work by my local gunsmith here she is!

My great uncle came ashore Nan Green sector, Juno Beach on June 6 1944 with the Regina Rifles. The weapon he carried was a long branch just like this.

Here's to many years of enjoying shooting this rifle!

Unfortunately my great uncle passed a year before I was born, so never got the opportunity to. On the rare occasions I'm in central SK and I happen to be around a certain unnamed town I always make sure to stop by his grave for a few minutes.

Enjoy and treasure it. Keep your brass, if that's an option for you - .303 British is a good reloading option.

My SA (Long Branch) Lee Enfield No 4. MkI* dated 1943 is my holy grail rifle.

I got crazy lucky and found an all original SMLE on gunpost for $450 a few days ago. Sometimes you can find good deals if you constantly look.

Great deal. I bought a bolt-mismatch one for 200 more than that like 6-7 years ago and thought that was a decent deal at the time haha.

Wow!! Did you buy it? Also, how does one make a purchase on GunPost? I can't find a buy button anywhere. Do you have to have your PAL validated on your account first or something?

Yes I bought it. On gunpost you have to message the seller and make a deal with them privately.

If you want a project, its possible to de-sporterize one. I’m currently doing that with a 1915 No 1 MK III.

I have thought of it, but I have no gunsmithing or gun modification experience, and it is probably more difficult than I think. I might still do it, but it will take time.

I dont either, but a few of my colleagues have done it a number of times. I’m not messing with the action or barrel, just moving all the furniture from a DP rifle to the sporter.
