Milsurps / Prohib Alexander Arms Beowulf Appreciation Post

Post image

Howdy Folks!

The Texan is back with yet another Gun Appreciation Post, where today we have a gun once available in Canada in small numbers before eventually being prohibited.

Today we have the Beowulf!

.50 Beowulf is an interesting cartridge because it was originally designed to take out an engine block, but the funny thing is that the cartridge found its own cult following for people who go hog hunting.

It’s also appealing for those who live up in Alaska, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut as they all gotta worry about bears and need something for bear defense. The amount of punch that the .50 Beowulf Cartridge delivers is enough for that.

In the states, one of the appeals we have for it is that it is a straight wall cartridge, and some states have hunting laws that only allow you to hunt with straight wall cartridges and not bottlenecked ones.

Anyways enjoy!

They do not break the rules and there is no rule saying that you cannot make gun appreciation posts.

Until the rules change, they are here to stay.

Like I said respectfully on one of your previous posts, this kind of content isn't relevant.

You don't know the Canadian gun industry or what is/was common. Filter down your content to stuff that is relevant and post less.

“Proves you are posting low effort”

Meanwhile, I also use Forgotten Weapons, Gun Wikis, Forums, Manuals, even have asked some CAF guys for some info on the C7 and C8 and made a post about it, thanking them all for the help on that one.

This one in particular, I used a spec sheet and some information about the cartridge to make it, and backtracked many sources just to make the post. Which still takes a lot of effort to do.

Yawn

Lmao nice cherry picking, all this tells me is that you didn’t read the entire comment.

This literally only proves my point. You don't know the Canadian gun industry.

The magazines used to be popular for these as it was previously a loopwhole to use AR mags that fit more than 5rnds of 223. The guns were virtually non-existent, with only a few examples existing. Even then, they've been banned for 6 years now and 99.999% of this sub has never seen one or owned one.

Edit: all this to say, stop spamming our subreddit with irrelevant content

I shot one of these in the desert last year with a forced reset. But yeah, these posts suck

The LAR-15 pistol mag loophole was well known in the Canadian gun community for many years.

Canadian law limits mag capacity based on the firearm the mag was designed for not the one it’s used in. The Rock River Arms LAR-15 was classified as a handgun so its 10 round .223 STANAG mags were legal handgun magazines. They dropped straight into any AR pattern rifle giving 10 rounds instead of the usual 5 for centerfire semi auto rifles.

RCMP Special Bulletin 72 explicitly confirmed this example. Retailers sold them openly and CanadianGunNutz threads literally discussed it constantly as a popular workaround.

The pistols themselves were rare but the mags were not. This was all common knowledge long before the 2020 ban.

Saying outsiders don’t know the industry while ignoring documented regulatory quirks like this just proves the opposite of your point. This stuff is directly relevant to pre-ban Canadian firearms discussion.

Stop with the gatekeeping bucko, because these posts are not against the rules of the subreddit. Complain all you want, they will remain until here until there are changes in the rules.

What are you rambling about? Yeah, I know all about LAR 15 mag limits. 50 beowulf mags are not the same. People used to stuff 14 founds of 223 in the beowulf mags before they RCMP clamped down on it, now we only have 10rnd LAR mags.

Also, there is no need to write an essay on the laws to a guy who works in the Canadian gun industry. You're wasting your time.

Edit: take the hint on what the comments section is trying to tell you

You already know the LAR-15 loophole gave 10 round .223 mags in ARs, and Beowulf mags let people cram 14+ before the RCMP shut it down. That’s exactly what I said. Pre-ban workarounds were common knowledge.

🥱

You’re in the industry, yet you’re the one replying “what are you rambling about” and complaining I’m wasting your time on the same topic. If it’s so obvious, why even engage? No one is forcing you to look at the posts and you can scroll past or block, I literally could care less, but nope, you would rather waste your own time complaining. Stop gatekeeping an entire subreddit over basic Canadian gun history, because it is not going to get you anywhere, and neither is downvoting me either.

You're an American in a Canadian gun subreddit, posting irrelevant content every 2-3 days. It's just annoying, and people clearly want you to stop

And again, you do not have to engage in the post, no one is forcing you to, and it is not in violation of the rules at all. But nope, you would still waste your time complaining.

Lar pistol mags still frequently used/ still legal. Has nothing to do with 50 Beowulf mags and there legality they could hold more then 10
