Application / Regulation advice Belt Fed?

Saw this on Google images and that got me thinking, if there is no limit on something like a belt then why aren't there more manufacturers in Canada creating belt fed semi autos?

There's a limit on the belt for newly manufactured belts, there's no limit on the belt for belts manufactured before 1945 (technically it says "not a reproduction designed for a weapon built before 1945" but that's unclear).
