Fix my gun Pick-and-pluck foam: wifey and I just did our first silhouettes

While not as satisfying as 40 minutes of precise carving with solid foam, this pre-scored stuff is so fast. Took me less than five minutes to shape my silhouette. Wifey took ten minutes for her Derya but she also got a foam rifle as an achievement trophy, LOL

i know they're (what looks to be) amazon tier optics, but rule of thumb is to pluck the foam so the optic faces up while you're carrying the case.

Intuition says grip (and weight of the rifle) down toward the hinges. He's probably ok. Can you remove and invert the entire foam block to correct if you wanted to?

Yes, I can easily invert the orientation!

That's good. I'm using soft bags so orientation matters. I don't think you've got a problem.

Enjoy the rifle. They're lots of bang for the buck.

With this Derya .22, I get my fix of pistol grip black rifle fun at 25 cents per round.!

While I do miss my Steyr Aug and my AR from many years ago, I frankly don't miss shooting 5.56 (the round itself) . Because I am now old with astigmatism vision, I rarely shoot beyond 100 yards anyway.

I am now a 'cheap date' plinking shooter who is happy with 500 rounds of 22LR on a Sunday!

If you can splurge 480$ in one shot, CCI Blazer is currently $0.10 per round. I run the TM-22 action without problems with SV as well.

Exactly this for me. Little foam blocks everywhere. Cat loved it!

My wife was inspired and picked her rifle silhouette as a single large shape. She got a Minecraft gun out of the deal!

If you put both rifles in a single case, it could’ve been the perfect excuse to buy 2 more.

LOLOL!

I did seek the double-sized case originally.

Alas, those big cases were sold out, so I acquired these two single-rifle cases instead.

And when I buy two more rifles, I will acquire more cases, hehe

What do you do when the foam deteriorates? Is there a place to buy replacement foam? Also, what do you do to prevent the other pieces from falling out? Do you spray them with adhesive?

Princess auto has them for nearly half that price

I did this with my first rifles then just replaced the whole thing with memory foam. I found its better than a cutout as you can haul whatever firearm you want, change optics, accessories and not be restricted.

Where did you source your memory foam? Furniture store?

Walmart in the craft section. Lots of different types of foam and it's cheap. So if ever you decide to switch it up, highly recommend going that route instead of buying the same plucking squares.

Thank you for this suggestion, awesome!
I am indeed going to scout Walmart for future foam!

Now you'll need a third case for the kitty, with a kitty-shaped cutout in the foam.

Is this used as storage? Or are you planning on hauling that around / to the range all the time?

Yes, and yes.

Foamy weapon of war, banned

Now register that gun shaped block of foam for the compensation program. They’re probably too dumb to know the difference.
