Misc Makasi (FAL-AR hybrid) approved by the RCMP as NON-RESTRICTED

According to CGN it was granted a NR FRT #198428 very recently. Any BFL/verifiers here care to check?

Edit: Multiple BFLs have verified it to be true NR, and the importer/distributor is Gravel Agency

From the manufacturer's website:

The Makasi marries the functional aesthetic of the FAL with the familiar handling of AR-style controls. It features a short stroke gas piston system and bufferless recoil system and operates with a non-reciprocating side charging handle. The Para-style stock is also side-folding and is supported with a robust two-screw mounting system that allows for firing in both the folded and deployed positions.

I was chatting with a representative from Gravel agency, the importer of the Makasi, and it looks like it'll be a few months until they get their hands on them to ship to dealers. I hope I get my hands on one before they sell out!

Were you able to know if it would be an in-house conversion or if they came in NR from the factory?

I'm not 100% sure what you mean. Are you asking if they had to modify the rifle to meet rcmp standards?

Yes. Factory models come with pistol or 16” barrels only, which means either the manuf will be making 18.6” barrels just for Canada, or Gravel will be converting them to NR length themselves.
