Misc Makasi (FAL-AR hybrid) approved by the RCMP as NON-RESTRICTED

Post image

According to CGN it was granted a NR FRT #198428 very recently. Any BFL/verifiers here care to check?

Edit: Multiple BFLs have verified it to be true NR, and the importer/distributor is Gravel Agency

From the manufacturer's website:

The Makasi marries the functional aesthetic of the FAL with the familiar handling of AR-style controls. It features a short stroke gas piston system and bufferless recoil system and operates with a non-reciprocating side charging handle. The Para-style stock is also side-folding and is supported with a robust two-screw mounting system that allows for firing in both the folded and deployed positions.

Hmmm this just fuels my desire for us to sort out extensions in the shop!! AR barrels are looking good again!

20" 1:8 223 Wylde, but the factory gas (carbine length? Not sure) is going to limit the accuracy a bit much like the good old WKs. At least there's a 2-position gas regulator this time.

It'd be nice if they could import builder's kits for all the stranded components up here.

Very possible! Im going to work on a production plan and I really want us to do MRA Maverick/Renegade barrels again without gas ports, and then with this I can justify reprogramming AR barrels and figuring out extensions since that is the main issue.

One thing you can do for the domestic semiauto market is offer NR barrels in lengths which the USA doesn't want, and not have to compromise on suppressed subs (wonder why). Grendel has existing options, but 300BLK doesn't, and the .45 options are all custom. 7.62x39 has some WK parts floating around but limited NR new production.

Its hard when the market is small, and for right now this is making it more and more viable. Once we see how the court case pans out its likely a very different story. But Im going to try and get us ready for that regardless.
