Misc Makasi (FAL-AR hybrid) approved by the RCMP as NON-RESTRICTED

Post image

According to CGN it was granted a NR FRT #198428 very recently. Any BFL/verifiers here care to check?

Edit: Multiple BFLs have verified it to be true NR, and the importer/distributor is Gravel Agency

From the manufacturer's website:

The Makasi marries the functional aesthetic of the FAL with the familiar handling of AR-style controls. It features a short stroke gas piston system and bufferless recoil system and operates with a non-reciprocating side charging handle. The Para-style stock is also side-folding and is supported with a robust two-screw mounting system that allows for firing in both the folded and deployed positions.

Which is another different scenario: previously unclassified firearms receiving their 1st FRT that is already prohib. That's why I left the R9 out of this, it's apples to oranges.

What about the Charles Daly N4S shotgun? Previously NR and imported and sold until around 2 months ago when they silently revised its FRT to prohibit.

Yes, that falls under one of the Turkish bullpup "unnamed variant" examples I mentioned earlier. Basically when the 2025 OIC dropped, a few of them were not on the list, but was found to be the same OEM models of named ones. So they retroactively slapped the "variant" ban on. There were a few of them.

That makes sense. Hopefully this one lasts as NR.

This one will stay NR unless it gets banned by OIC.
