Misc Makasi (FAL-AR hybrid) approved by the RCMP as NON-RESTRICTED

Post image

According to CGN it was granted a NR FRT #198428 very recently. Any BFL/verifiers here care to check?

Edit: Multiple BFLs have verified it to be true NR, and the importer/distributor is Gravel Agency

From the manufacturer's website:

The Makasi marries the functional aesthetic of the FAL with the familiar handling of AR-style controls. It features a short stroke gas piston system and bufferless recoil system and operates with a non-reciprocating side charging handle. The Para-style stock is also side-folding and is supported with a robust two-screw mounting system that allows for firing in both the folded and deployed positions.

It is proprietary enough to not become a variant of any firearm listed in the 1990s and 2020s OICs, and meets the definition of a non-restricted firearm.

It also predates C-21 by almost a year.

Will the Springfield Hellion be making it up here also potentially?

Who knows? It's also in the same boat (proprietary design pre-C21).

I guess the only thing left that could potentially cause it to be prohib is the Hasselwander clause (easily convertible to full auto).

Wasn't the Hellion banned by name in the latest OIC along with the IRG Chico? Can't find the document but I was waiting for these two and on the top of my head they were axed by our dear leaders.
