Misc Makasi (FAL-AR hybrid) approved by the RCMP as NON-RESTRICTED

According to CGN it was granted a NR FRT #198428 very recently. Any BFL/verifiers here care to check?

Edit: Multiple BFLs have verified it to be true NR, and the importer/distributor is Gravel Agency

From the manufacturer's website:

The Makasi marries the functional aesthetic of the FAL with the familiar handling of AR-style controls. It features a short stroke gas piston system and bufferless recoil system and operates with a non-reciprocating side charging handle. The Para-style stock is also side-folding and is supported with a robust two-screw mounting system that allows for firing in both the folded and deployed positions.

Now that they have a majority they don't even need an OIC. They can ram through a bill that bans everything semiauto.

On the other hand, I think the resistance they are seeing is giving them pause.

They could've before anyway, there wouldn't have been much of a fight from the NDP this time around. I think this has been the plan for Carney government all along but the unpopularity of the buyback and the SKS-Indigenous issue seem to be legit roadblocks.

That takes time to wind through the house and senate. They will do OIC then follow up with the legislation later

Faster, but Trudeau's abuse of the OIC has left the Carney government with a mess and the optics of a bill are much better.

The carney government has been functioning by pushing through other unrelated legislation via OIC this past year. Nobody cared because the media did not blow it up

The Liberals have had a practical majority for the last 10 years with the NDP coalition. They never needed to use oic's to ban things yet they still did

I'd argue the opposite. Remember the G4/G46 amendment for C-21? They tried to do a ban list via legislation as a minority government and it failed, and they had to resort to OIC.

First it was assault style weapons, then rapid fire, soon it will be high powered rifles. There is no winning against an anti-gun lobby with complete federal support. We will likely be a gun-free country within a decade at this rate.

Maybe, but it seems unlikely. I doubt anyone still really believes the RCMP is totally independent from government. There's no way the Liberals didn't know this was up for review.

Other than utter incompetence, or some conspiracy theory type plot to destroy our will, I don't see how this got approved only to get banned months later.
