Misc Makasi (FAL-AR hybrid) approved by the RCMP as NON-RESTRICTED

Post image

According to CGN it was granted a NR FRT #198428 very recently. Any BFL/verifiers here care to check?

Edit: Multiple BFLs have verified it to be true NR, and the importer/distributor is Gravel Agency

From the manufacturer's website:

The Makasi marries the functional aesthetic of the FAL with the familiar handling of AR-style controls. It features a short stroke gas piston system and bufferless recoil system and operates with a non-reciprocating side charging handle. The Para-style stock is also side-folding and is supported with a robust two-screw mounting system that allows for firing in both the folded and deployed positions.

Seems to be around 1468USD (2000CAD) on their US site.

After the obligatory NR tax, I'd expect it to retail at 2500CAD. But they are basically handed a monopoly on a golden platter... So there could be price gouges.

If it’s not a piece of shit, sold.

If it is a POS, I'll buy it and shade tree Smith it until it kinda works.

I'd rather have a really neat POS gun than no neat POS gun. Besides I like to tinker with my shit and usually it doesn't take much work to rectify any quirks a gun has.

Id bet against that when it comes to crusader arms... absolute hot garbage.

Which is funny as shit to me cause I either got a unicorn or the minor amount of tinkering i did with my setinel has prevented it from ever malfunctioning on me.

Its got 3.5kish rounds through it with 0 issues.

1770 usd as the picture showed, also with 18.6 inch barrel, probably 1800 usd?i would like to say its probably like a bren 2, 3499cad. you cannot just convert the exchange rate.

The $1776 one came with some extra bits. Common tactic for markups. I'd expect 99% of the people here to buy the $1468 base model and kit it out with their own furniture.

The restricted Bren 2s were basically straight USD-CAD conversions. The official NR version was cancelled due to CZ adjusting production needs due to Ukraine. The Bren 2 NR conversions are therefore price gouged to hell at a $1500 premium.

$500 NR tax is a pretty reasonable guess. It tracks. That makes it around C$2800 after tax.

its business, nothing is reasonable. but hope for the best.

100%. Had a guy show up to the range with one, brand new. Couldn't fire a round. Bolt was faulty, seems firing pin wasn't doing the job.

Crusader is a dead company IMO.

To me it matters nore that they exist, i want an sks but as they are the only semi auto on the market, the prices are crazy. But having hight end models available let the people how can get those gun by them instead.

Tldr even tho it will be expensive I am happy because I think it will drop demand on the sks

They arent the only semiauto on the market, but they are the only one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to shoot/maintain. I'm referring to the FN-49s, Winchester model 100s, and Remington jam-o-matics of course

The cheapest version is currently on sale at $1,131.56 USD with free shipping. Which is about $1557.78 CAD. Even for $2.5k CAD these would sell out immediately. I'd like to see one in .308 and I'd pay a lot more for it as long as it is accurate and reliable.

5

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Apr 14 '26

The cheapest version is a US "pistol" without the stock and has a short barrel. I'd expect them to charge more with a full rifle lol

Alternatively, it'd be cool to see them ship a "bare bones" version with just the barreled action, and have us buy our own handguards, grips, and stocks.

2

u/truthdoctor bc Apr 14 '26

IRG could take that pistol, add an NR barrel and then sell it in Canada cheaper than the actual factory NR versions. That's what they did with the Bren.

1

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Apr 15 '26

No, in this case it seems like Gravel Agency is bringing in official 18.6" ones. That means installing an aftermarket barrel will always cost more. Can't beat the OEM advantage.

Bren 2 was the only exception because the OEM 18.6" model was never mass imported due to CZ shifting production priorities.
