Gun and gear reviews Muzzle brakes

I have a Bergara b14 hunter 7mm rem mag, it came with a omni brake on it. I don’t feel the recoil is that bad but out of curiosity I’m wondering if people have used other muzzle brakes.

Are they worth the money ?

Do they help recoil that much better?

Does changing a muzzle brake affect accuracy at all?

Is radial , side ports or a hybrid of both best?

Would like to know peoples experiences and thoughts on it

I don't have anything to compare to with others, but I have an MDT comp brake on my tikka in 6.5

Not a heavy recoil round but it's a significant difference with the brake on vs off

Before I bought it, doing some research said the area 419 one and mdt are the best. I got the MDT to support Canadian business

A brake will help recoil noticeably, some are better than others. Whether it’s worth it is up to you. 

The omni/radial brakes will blow dirt and dust back at you if you shoot prone. Side port brakes avoid that problem. 

A brake should not affect accuracy negatively but will probably change your POI after it’s installed so you would have to adjust your zero.

Ran Cadex MX1 mini on my old rig. It was very good and effective.

Different brakes may have slight POI shifts.

You have to ask yourself first - why do you want a brake

Would suggest you invest in a scope, bipod and rear bag in that order first before caring about a brake. They do help recoil leading to accuracy improvements but some brakes make people beside you hate your guts because of the blast.

Yes.

Yes, 360 brakes imo are gun manufacturers are using the easiest and cheapest method so they can sell you an extra. Radials don't need to be timed so they just thread them on and call it a day.

It can, but its more of a POI shift that you just may have to re-zero for.

The best brakes are the ones that vent @ the 3,9,12 oclock positions or @ least the 3 & 9.

I’m not a fan of radial brakes as much mentioned previywith the dust. MDT has or is coming out with a Hunter brake and new comp brakes that look really nice. I also highly recommend APA brakes
