Could be wrong but I'm almost certain that the belt is considered a magazine and would be limited to five rounds. I'm pretty sure that I heard somewhere that there is an exemption for original belts for collectables like the Broowning 1919 in semiautomatic but that you can't make a new belt for them.

If I am not mistaken belts are legal if they were made during or before 1945.

Also, fun fact, the M1919 uses .30-06. The belts are obviously made for .30-06. But, they are cloth. Cloth is kinda stretchy.

.30-06 casings are about 11.4mm in diameter. .44 is about 11.6mm. Thats only 0.2mm wider.

You legitimately might be able to use 250 round belts of .44 magnum.
